Ponies, primroses and memories 🐴🌼

Recently, our resident Sylvia ventured on a trip into our local wilderness, the New Forest, to enjoy the natural sights.

For people living with dementia, being outdoors can offer vibrant sensory experiences that may spark memories and improve mood.

Small things like the smell of flowers, birdsong or the feel of the sun on skin can evoke positive memories.

When Sylvia was enjoying her outing in the local area, the wildlife reminded her of her time in Exbury and she thoroughly enjoyed looking at the primroses - her favourite flowers.

What do you love about the New Forest? 🌲✨

🌼 Friendly Reminder 🌼

The Oaklands Forget-Me-Not Cafe will be open on Friday 27th March for anyone who would like to connect, share stories and enjoy a treat in a supportive space.

Our theme for this month is information and awareness. Information about dementia and its impact can be scarce, but no one is alone in their journey.

We are pleased to be welcoming Alex from The Dementia Care Hub, who will be joining us to share her wealth of knowledge and experiences working with people and their families living with dementia.

If you are seeking support, understanding and connection, this month's cafe may be the safe space for you. If not, pop in and say hello! Everyone is welcome ✨

Join us at Oaklands Rest Home, Veal's Lane, on March 27th - we can't wait to see you there! πŸ’œ
