According to the meteorological calendar, Spring has already begun! šŸŒ·šŸ™Œ

I don’t know about you, but I actually found February much harder than January in terms of mindset, energy and focus.

With the concept of wintering, where it’s deemed essential to slow down and cosy up during the winter months, I didn’t overthink it or give myself a hard time for feeling sluggish.

But, the change in seasons is helping my power to return. Along with:

šŸ„— upping my nutrition
āœˆļø booking family adventures
🌼 finding gratitude in glimmers of Spring
šŸƒā€ā™€ļø trying new exercise classes
🄶 increasing my cold dipping

Do you feel like you’re going into the Spring with renewed energy?

Are you ready to take on Wim Hof’s 20-day cold shower challenge?

I've recently shared about how you can ease yourself into cold water therapy by introducing cold showers to your daily routine, so I thought it was time to set you the cold shower challenge!

Tips:

1. Print off this image and keep it somewhere visible
2. Start with a warm shower
3. Finish with a cold shower for the number of seconds shown in the image
4. Relax and breathe slowly
5. Do this at least 5 times a week for 4 weeks
6. Check off every cold shower you do

What do you think? Are you ready to give this a go?!

If you’re susceptible to the odd wobble, it can be hard to grow in confidence and strengthen your mindset.

If this sounds like you, try these things:

šŸ‘ Surround yourself with likeminded people who will support your growth
āŒ Stop comparing yourself to others - it will make you feel bad and steal you of joy
šŸ’ Take a step back from challenging situations to find the positives
šŸ“ Take learnings from every single day
šŸ¤— Show gratitude
😰 Lean into fear and seek excitement in pushing your comfort zone - after all, fear and excitement are the same chemical reaction in the brain!

It takes work, but we all have the ability and power to shift our mindset.

Are you ready?

There are two types of self-awareness:

Internal and external.

INTERNAL SELF-AWARENESS is the ability to understand how your actions, thoughts or emotions do or don’t align with your values and beliefs.

EXTERNAL SELF-AWARENESS is the ability to understand how others perceive you.

If you can master both, you will:

1. Be happier, healthier and higher performing
2. Be more empathetic
3. Have better relationships with others
4. Be able to better evaluate yourself
5. Manage your emotions
6. Align behaviours
7. Understand how people perceive you

Do you actively take the time to develop your awareness muscles?

Remaining stagnant can hinder our personal growth and progress.

Life isn’t linear.

And we need to be equipped to deal with the twists and turns it presents to us.

This is why I love self-development.

It serves as a reminder that we are constantly evolving… as is the world around us.

Without the willingness to unlearn, relearn, and develop new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving, navigating life becomes much more challenging!

ā™„ļø Happy Valentine’s Day! ā™„ļø

Today is a wonderful celebration of love.
The love you have for others…

And the love you have for yourself.

And let’s not forget, embracing self-care isn't just for one day.

It's a daily commitment to nourishing your mind, body, and soul.

Self-care means you can be your best for others AND for you.

In 2018, my coach explained to me that self-care was like putting on your oxygen mask on an airplane before helping others.

You can’t help other people if you’re not fit and well yourself.

So, today I encourage you to ask yourself: what self-care habits can I put in place to help me be happier and healthier?

Did you take some intentional time yesterday to set the tone for the week ahead?

If not, you can spend as little as 15 minutes to half an hour jotting down your priorities and goals.

It's incredible how a little planning can bring so much clarity and focus.

What are your top priorities for the week? They don’t have to be work-related either…

For me, the boys are on their half-term break, so I’m focusing on spending quality time with them.

Share your goals below and let's inspire each other!

I first toyed with the idea of creating new habits back in 2021. It was during Christmas time and I remember it well…

Top of the list was cutting out refined sugar by no longer eating all of those ā€˜treat’ foods.

But to cut it out completely would be difficult – have you seen how much sugar is in everyday foods?!

So instead, I decided to cut out as much excess sugar as possible, including my daily mid-afternoon and post-kids’ bedtime sugary hits.

Next on the list was getting up earlier in the morning. I’d gotten into the habit of having tea in bed, going slow and then feeling rushed to get the kids to school.

I’d read about miracle mornings and the 5am club.

But getting up at 5am didn’t appeal to me. It was Winter and way too cold (the irony!).

So instead, I started getting up 30 minutes earlier – that was doable.

My point being, I was realistic with what I could and couldn’t achieve.

The journey of personal development doesn’t just happen overnight.

It’s these small, sustainable changes that make a lasting difference.

What new habits could you start to introduce to make your life easier and more fulfilling?

If the thought of doing ice baths is a bit daunting for you right now, why not try introducing cold showers to your daily routine first?

It’s said that the optimal amount of cold exposure is about 10 minutes a week, which works out to be 1-2 minutes each day.

Simply start off with your warm shower as normal, and then just before you’re about to rinse yourself off, turn the shower down to the coldest setting.

The key is to use your breath to help you.
Inhale through the nose as you adjust the temperature, then make a long exhale as you enter the water.

There’s no denying that your body will find it difficult for the first 15-50 seconds.

But it will adjust.

And the more you do it, the less shocked you’ll be when the cold water hits you.

Look out for my next post about the benefits of cold water therapy… you’d be crazy not to try it!
