Mental Health Aware

Mental Health Aware Posting & sharing positive & inspirational mental health quotes and trying to educate others and raise the stigma still attached to mental health today.

I was diagnosed Bipolar 12 years ago and have found that it is of great help talking to others with the same condition. Sharing experiences can be of great help. My new Twitter account http://twitter.com/BipolarChatroom has become a great success where I post blogs and talk to other sufferers. I will be posting the blogs regularly on here.

Following the recent and sudden unexpected passing of my dear brother who created and managed this page. I have decided to carry on this account and manage it on behalf of him as a tribute to him as well as carrying on his legacy as this page meant so much to him - especially to all of the loyal followers who found great comfort and inspiration on his positive posts. Thank you for your loyalty towards Dean and this page which meant so much to him. I'll do my very best to make my brother proud. Thank you Lloyd Hollett.

It is with very broken hearts that we inform you that our beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, cousin and dear friend Deano Hollett passed away suddenly on Friday morning at his family home in Margate aged just 50 after testing positive for Covid on Wednesday.

As we still struggle to come to terms with this devastating news, funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

"I will be with you
You're here in my heart
But if you never come back again
We'll never be far apart
I miss you so much
Wherever you are
But if you never come back again
We'll never be far apart"

Today, I have been sober for 12 whole years...I am so proud of this accomplishment as, before I gave up the drink, I was in an extremely dark place in my life. I never dreamed I could give up the drink as it had become the 'crutch' in my life to lean on. Whereas before, the crutch in my life had been ripped away from me from right under my feet.
The drink helped me numb the pain I was feeling & it carried on from there, exasperating my mental health as time went on.
It got to the stage that I didn't like 'me' & when I was sober I was ashamed & embarrassed of what & who I had become.
I knew I only had one chance of making this right, because if I had continued drinking, I certainly wouldn't have lasted that long & wouldn't be here now to pat myself on the back...
I've still got my mental health issues on a daily basis which, in itself, is a difficult & rocky road, & some days are pure hell, but, at least I can deal with these issues whilst sober & with a clear head.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me through my journey, whether it be a Facebook message, a text asking how I am, a meet-up, basically any contact. Remember, just texting someone a positive message like telling them you're thinking of them, or sending them a smiley emoji 😊 can make their day!!
Thank you to my family & friends for their love & for being here for me...I couldn't have gone through this alone.
Love Deano ❤❤😘😘
