Greetings fellow earthlings, so much rain eh! The becks and streams are loving it. I still have some spaces left at The Ancestors Circle next Tuesday, 7pm, in Market Weighton. Drop me a comment or a message if you'd like to come along. It's Β£15pp payable on the day (cash or card)

I work in the loose structure of somatic attunement and embodied listening, which has a good balance of masculine and feminine energies. This supports our intuitive senses and authenticity to come online. And it is a great way of working for sensitive, highly sensitive, and neurodivergent folks πŸŒ€

Here's the group prompt for Tuesday, which stays the same for the first few gatherings & I'll refine as we go along. Don't worry if you haven't worked like this before as it's very laidback, and I join the Circle as a full participant:

πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ

"Is there anything I want to say to the Ancestors today, including if there is anything I would seek clarity on, or more information, or insights, or even support? Or when I see these questions/inquiries, what arises in me, what comes forward for me, into my awareness?"

As you share into the space (or listen to others as they share) notice your somatic "inner listening" ~ which means any sensations, feelings, images, emotions, words, or subtle movements in your body or your internal landscape. It may help to listen or speak with your eyes closed, it is different for everyone though.

As you sense into your inner experience, feel free to speak to your experience, or what arises for you in the moment-to-moment noticing and witnessing. Notice your body, notice your breath, notice the group-field, stay curious and patient with yourself. Notice what you are aware of, or maybe not aware of. There is no right way or wrong way, and it isn't about sharing in the same way that other people share ~ but it's entirely your own process. By practising this, we can build up embodied listening, co-regulated presence, and give more spaciousness to the field of collective witnessing and ancestral awareness.

This is a great post and much-needed correction to the field 😎

Indigenous knowledge has held an embodied understanding of breath, body, relationship and safety for thousands of generations. These teachings recognise that the nervous system is shaped through Country, kinship, story, rhythm and ceremony.

Polyvagal theory is a helpful contemporary tool, but it sits inside a much older Indigenous worldview about how humans regulate, connect and heal.

Healing deepens when:
❀️ Indigenous wisdom leads the way,
❀️ neuroscience walks alongside rather than defines, and
❀️ somatic practice is grounded in culture, Country and relationship - not just the individual body.

This is a poem written by Mike Edwards, a journalist for The Horncastle News, after visiting the Great War 1914-18 battlefields. It has meant a lot to me over the years since a tour guide handed it to me without saying anything. I had just visited Adanac Cemetery near the Somme in 2017 to see my ancestor, Charles, who died on the final day of the battle (18/11/1916). Thankfully his body was retrieved. He left behind a wife Elsie and two children.

The greatest way to is to forge peace between all nations: animal, human, more-than-human, and Nature, in honour of the restful and the restless dead. Until then we continue to dishonour their suffering and remain stuck in repetition compulsion cycles

A world without war and the maiming of men, animals and people is entirely possible

Every day is remembrance day

Thanks for patience as I get my groupwork going again. I'm currently firming up some part-time work for myself to run adjacent to Arras Healing and I also totally overestimated what I am able to carry without getting over-stimulated as an autistic person! After some hard reflections last week, I am going to focus on one group at a time (alongside my 1-1 offerings) and see where it leads to

For now this will be The Ancestors Circle, as it is where my heart and soul lie and where I have the most intuitive nagging

Hoping to go ahead on Tuesday 18th Nov @ 7pm, with the gathering of the Circle here in Market Weighton, just need to confirm I am not needed at a job that day and will share the promo

I know this is not a conventional or linear way of running a business, but finding my feet as an unmasking, disabled woman day-by-day in this new era πŸ•Š & I feel we need more inclusive, neuro-affirming ways of working that break the status quo (so why not put myself out there with my ideas!)

Comment or DM if you're interested in more info or joining The Ancestors Circle πŸΎπŸŒΏπŸ‘£

I recently shared a new post to Arras Healing's blog all about trauma bonds and breaking trauma bonds 🫢 I am working on a new meditation for my YouTube channel which is all about this too, and will share it here when it's ready! Trauma bonds are often seen in difficult or abusive interpersonal relationships, and they can happen between children-and-parents, between spouses/partners, between friends, between siblings ~ and even between work colleagues! In the past, they were sometimes characterised as "hot and cold" behaviour, and now you more often hear people talking about "push-pull dynamics" in relationships, avoidant attachments, love-bombing or breadcrumbing. If you'd like to learn about breaking trauma bonds and freeing yourself from this type of pain, check out my blog for some tips and tools πŸ™‚ I also offer 1-1 somatic and breathwork coaching around this ~Candy

In this blog, I share my strategies for coping with abandonment in the wake of a trauma bond, as well as how to cope with the pain and suffering that comes with trauma bonds.

Why I'm opening my home to group spaces πŸ’š

I already run my one-to-one client work from my home here in Market Weighton, but it's the first time I will also be opening to group spaces too. I tried to do this back in 2022 but aborted those plans at the time, so here I am nearly 3 years later, circling back on myself.

For me, it feels like the natural culmination of how I have grown and evolved over the last 3 (nearly 4) years of running Arras Healing. I am much more unapologetically and radically my own person than ever before, and as others will know, it's hard work to get there and a lot of mini-deaths.

Now, not only I am keen to reach out and put myself out there, but I'd like to create spaces of community connection, especially for those who are neurodivergent, sensitive, or somewhat socially isolated at times. And I'm also keen to break down barriers to perfectionism and performance in the holistic wellness world.

Will it be perfect running groups from my home? Probably not. Will my cat try to interrupt sessions sometimes? Probably (she has interrupted client sessions in the past). Will there be other things crop up that I can't yet foresee? Perhaps. But will it be perfectly imperfect, delivered in a unique way that only I can deliver it? Yes! (as is the case for all of us with our unique gifts and skillsets).

Based on the widening division and polarisation that we're seeing in the world, it seems clear to me that embodying vulnerable leadership (and how this enriches our lives), is one of the best contributions that I can make right now. Taking imperfect actions and showing up exactly as I am on any given day.

I'm also a massive fan of substance-over-style. I know that my social media posts aren't glossy and refined, and sometimes they use cartoons that look like I let my inner child loose on them (I did!), but I tell myself they're warm and fuzzy and approachable, and at the end of the day Arras Healing is an extension of my own nervous system and values.

So if you'd like to check out my little groups, here in Market Weighton, and see how connecting to local community in a non-judgemental, compassionate, trauma-informed and attuned space might work for you, hosted by yours truly, check out my recent posts or my website for all the details.

New groups restart from Monday 3rd November in Market Weighton πŸ˜ƒ Click on each image to see more information about my new and refreshed group offerings. There are 4 groups to choose from, or you can join as many as you like to see what fits! This is NOT group therapy, however my groupwork does focus on community connection, wellness, meditation, personal empowerment, curiosity and compassion.

Groups are mixed gender and can accommodate 3-7 people (minimum 2 people booked on to go ahead). They range in fee/pricing from Β£7 to Β£15, depending on the format and length of the group. Some are 60 minutes and others are up to 90 minutes.

They will be hosted by me (Candy) from my dedicated coaching and therapies space here in Market Weighton, East Yorkshire. There is the choice of being seated in a chair, or with a comfy meditation cushion, or floor-sitting with soft rug. Ground floor room but, unfortunately, wheelchair access may be tricky as there is no ramp. Please contact me to discuss any disability or access needs.

Cash & card are both accepted at the start / end of groups, or you can also pay securely online if you forget. WhatsApp Group (broadcast only) for easier updates and bookings. Message me or comment for questions etc. πŸ™‚ ~Candy
