Well it's been a while - just over a year. Reason is - I tried retirement and it was great. But I then started thinking - but I'm FAR too young! And I do LOVE hypnotherapy and mind-coaching, and how both can really help people change. And achieve what they want to achieve without pill, potion or any sort of pressure.

So retirement can wait awhile. It will come. Just not quite yet.

My focus nowadays is three-pronged.
- Unwanted fears and phobias
- Unwanted old memories and flashbacks
- Stop smoking

My three FAVOURITE issues to help with, because both hypnotherapy and mind-coaching are incredibly effective for all of them. I only work online, so you can change all three from the comfort of your sofa. Perhaps not all 3 at the same time though.

Could I help you to make the change you want?

I've been updating my Smoking page recently, so I can show how quickly you can get your money back when you use hypnotherapy to become a non smoker. (Yes that's a NON smoker - not an ex smoker who might still have cravings.) Average price of a pack of 20 seems to be around £12.84 - blooming heck. So if you use my hypnotherapy to become a non smoker, and you smoke 20 a day, you'll get your money back in less than 3 weeks. Obviously you'll also feel better, won't smell, breathe easier, and feel HUGELY proud of yourself - but you'll also save around £4686 a year. Worth a think? https://patharperhypnotherapy.co.uk/stop-smoking/

Interesting interview on BBC Breakfast this morning, about ARFID (Avoidant restrictive food intake disorder), characterised by someone avoiding certain foods. The 2 women interviewed were both diagnosed with ARFID after suffering horrid events linked to food - one was sick after eating, the other had had a choking event.

They'd been to their GP and been told it was a temporary trauma (YES!), and both realised that there was a psychological element to their reactions (YES!) At which point I thought - surely someone's going to to say - give hypnotherapy a whirl? Both earlier events had taught their minds that fear of food would stop anything similar happening in future - even though logically they knew it wasn't going to happen again, and, anyway, they had to eat. They had tried EVERYTHING - and that's how most people, eventually, come to hypnotherapy.

If you've ever had anything like this, please talk to a hypnotherapist. An unconscious pattern learned from a one-off event really can be unlearned, sometimes really quickly. All good hypnotherapists offer a free no-obligation consultation, so you have nothing to lose - except an emotional pattern you consciously want to stop, but just don't seem able to.

Evening Anxiety

I’ve lost count of the amount of clients that have told me their anxiety seems to strike worst in the evenings.

This can be a source of great confusion and concern. After all, the evening is, in theory the time when we should be most at peace and at rest.

Why then should anxiety seem to hit so hard?

The good news is that this seemingly random time for anxiety to strike is not a sign of malfunction or disorder.
There are in fact a few really good reasons why anxiety hits us in the evening time.

In my latest YouTube video I go through these reasons and explain how we stop this effect occurring.

Click on my Linktree link in my bio to watch the video.

If you haven’t yet subscribed to my YT channel then I strongly recommend you do for regular anxiety advice and mind coaching tips.

I know hypnotherapy isn't usually the first port of call if you have a problem . Makes perfect sense. But if you've had it checked out by a health professional and have been told either that there doesn't seem to be a problem, or there's nothing else that can be done - well, don't lose heart until you've at least found out more about hypnotherapy. There is a psychological element to most things - even pain, often - and, if that can be explained or helped, it can ease ALL sorts of things.

Most of us hypnotherapists offer a free no-obligation chat or consultation - why not take advantage of that and find out how it might help you? You don't know until you ask. I will always say if I don't think it will help - but say that VERY rarely. And you just might be amazed at what your own mind can do for you.

Interesting article in Saturday's Times, about how the long NHS waiting lists are encouraging people to think about hypnotherapy. The NHS is, at last, researching and using hypnotherapy, particularly for helping with IBS and pain, and hypnotherapy can help with LOADS more than that.
The real takeaway from the article is - find a hypnotherapist who belongs to an accredited register, like the National Hypnotherapy Society (there are others). And I would add - talk to a few hypnotherapists, because you have GOT to get on with whoever you choose. Take advantage of a consultion - many of us offer one free - and you might be really surprised at what a hypnotherapist could help you with.

Letting go means something different for each of us. Maybe it’s letting go of pressure or expectations we’ve placed on ourselves and just being free. Maybe it’s letting go of something from the past. Letting go of a relationship or something in your life that you need to move on from. Letting go of guilt, shame, trauma, unforgiveness…etc. and what better season than one where the leaves are changing and the trees are also letting go ❤️

Dr. Andrew Huberman is a neuroscientist and professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at Stanford School of Medicine. He hosts a podcast where he discusses neuroscience and science-based tools, and other stuff I can barely spell, let alone know what they are.

BUT - what he ALSO does - is discuss and share tools that we can all use to cope better with life.

A really great one is the Physiological Sigh, for stress.
All it is - 2 breaths in through your nose, 1 long , one tiny,
then a LOOOOng breath out through your mouth.

Here’s the youtube video of him talking about it and demonstrating - it's just great. (after the ads and HIDEOUS lead-in sounds) Give it a whirl - it works.

Here I describe "Physiological Sighs" which is a pattern of breathing of two inhales, followed by an extended exhale. This pattern of breathing occurs sponta...

Spiders have definitely moved into autumn mode, if the sparkling webs on my early-morning dog walks are anything to go by. And soon their creators will be eyeing up our warm and cosy homes and thinking - I'm going to move in, yippee!

Lots of people are horrified at just the thought of having a spider roomie (even though they're very clean and quiet and don't raid the fridge.). Did you know that hypnotherapy is BRILLIANT for helping you feel totally different about spiders, and pretty much any phobia? It can be quick (often just 1 session is needed) and you'll be astonished at how different you can feel afterwards.
You won't ADORE spiders (unless you specifically want to) but if you just want to lose that totally illogical unconscious response - why not give hypnotherapy a whirl?

People can go through the exact same stuff and respond completely differently. Because each one of us is unique, living a life unlike anyone else's, with our own memories, experiences, and lessons learned. So how we respond to stuff is also unique. Hypnotherapy can't change those past experiences; but it can help you take control and change how you're responding now to something long gone. (And before I get carried away with what hypnotherapy can do for you - It can't help you have long legs so that the mud doesn't bother you, but could help you find a better way through it.)

Some of us will tip toe through it, some have to wade on through, some may hang about for a wallow and some may be stuck.

Everyone is different and experiences thoughts, feelings and life changes in their own way.
Anxiety, bereavement, fear of flying, exam nerves, fear of heights, depression, driving, job changes, addictions ...etc.

The approach and method may vary but the aim is always the same....
Control, Change and out of the mud.

A call, message, zoom or in person. You are moving forwards.

Did you know that we're born with only 2 fears? - the fear of loud noises, and the fear of falling (As in: Stone age mum - "Keep that growling bear out of the cave or I'll have to drop the baby"). Everything else is learned - from experience, or other people. Which is GREAT NEWS! 🥳👌🥳 Because, quickly and easily, you can unlearn that fear or phobia with hypnotherapy. Hard to believe, I know, if you can't even look at a picture of a spider, or dread flying. But - . Find out how with a free consultation.

There is a LOT of tosh out there about hypnotherapy and my mission is to Stop The Tosh!
So - Tosh1. Lots of people say they can't be hypnotised. But trance is normal and natural, and we all go in and out of trance all the time. Oh yes we do. (Even if I don't actually use trance much any more...another Tosh coming up...)
