Last night we held our Christmas Memorial Service at Matlock Town Football Club.

A special thank you to our entire team — not only those involved in the service last night, but everyone from our reception team through to our funeral operatives. We couldn’t do what we do without you.

We’d also like to thank Zuzia Goddard and Rev. Richard Reade for their words of hope and guidance at what can be a difficult time of year.

A big thank you as well to members of Darley Dale Band for leading us in the carols.

Thank you to Lewis and all the staff at the club for looking after us so well.

And finally, thank you to everyone who came along to remember their loved ones with us.

We wish you all a very peaceful Christmas.

Best Wishes

The Jepson Family ❤️

This Christmas, we are proud to sponsor one of the beautiful stars shining at Ashgate Hospice. ✨

Each year, these stars light up the hospice in honour of the patients, families, and staff who show such strength, compassion, and love during the most difficult of times. It is a privilege for us to support Ashgate and the extraordinary work they do for our community.

We hold the deepest admiration for the hospice and everyone connected to it. Their care brings comfort and dignity when it is needed most, and we are grateful to play a small part in supporting their vital work.

Our star shines in tribute to them all.

🌿 Bereavement Meetup – Tuesday at Mad Hatter, Matlock

A short post to remind you about our upcoming Bereavement Meetup this Tuesday at The Mad Hatter, Matlock. This is an open, welcoming space for anyone navigating grief, offering the chance to connect, share, and learn about the support available in our local community.

✨ Meet our guest therapists:

Billie Rose Therapy and Well-being – A compassionate counsellor with experience supporting the bereaved at Ashgate Hospice, now in private practice. Billie offers support with grief, anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, and more. She’s also created a series of Online Self-Help Courses, providing accessible counselling-level support from home at an affordable price.

Sue McDonald Complete Wellness Collective – A local support group leader who partners with Complete Wellness Collective. Sue creates safe and welcoming spaces where people can connect, share, and heal together.

Sarah Kallend – Heart and Head Space, Sarah offers a holistic and nurturing approach to supporting people through grief, making sure the journey feels deeply personal and compassionate.

Our event isn’t about selling services or promoting any one approach—it’s about bringing people together.

You’ll have the chance to meet the faces behind these incredible services, learn about the support available locally, and hopefully find something that resonates with you or someone you care about.

We hope to see you there if you feel this event is for you! No need to RSVP just come along, we will be in the log cabin at the back. Coffee & Refreshments on us.

PLEASE NOTE over the next few months the District Council will be inspecting and testing memorials in managed cemeteries and closed churchyards where we have a responsibility for health and safety. It is a legal requirement that all memorials are stable.

The process typically involves a visual inspection for damage and a gentle hand-pressure test to check for instability.

Following the test, if a headstone is found to be unsafe it will be laid down. We appreciate this is a sensitive matter and we will always notify the registered deed holder.

Bereavement Event – Tuesday 2nd December at Mad Hatter, Matlock

In the lead-up to our Bereavement Event, we’ve been so inspired by the incredible local people offering bereavement support in our area. There are so many approaches, each offering something a little different, meaning there really can be something for everyone.
We’re delighted to introduce another wonderful supporter who will be joining us at the event:

✨ Billie Rose – Billie has been practicing counselling since 2017, beginning her journey supporting the bereaved at Ashgate Hospice. She now works in private practice, supporting people with grief, anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, addictions, and more. Recognising that private counselling isn’t always accessible for everyone, Billie has created a bank of Online Self-Help Courses, providing counselling-level support from home, at your own pace, and at an affordable price.

You can preview her courses here:

Our event isn’t about selling services — it’s about bringing people together, discovering what support is available locally, and meeting the faces behind these services. This is a safe space to explore what resonates with you or someone you care about.

We can’t wait to welcome Sue McDonald, Sarah Kallend, Billie Rose, and the rest of our amazing local support network.

We’re proud to display the Golden Charter seal

The Golden Charter seal represents trust, reassurance, and connection.

For us, it shows that we’re part of a nationwide network of independent funeral directors who share the same standards of care and professionalism.

When families see the seal, they know they can rely on us - a local, independent business supported by one of the UK’s largest funeral plan providers.

Bereavement Event – Tuesday December 2nd at Mad Hatter, Matlock

In the lead-up to our Bereavement Event, we’ve been spending time connecting with some of the wonderful local people who offer bereavement support in our area.

It’s been such an eye-opening experience — what we think bereavement support looks like is often just one small piece of a much bigger picture. There are so many approaches and caring individuals out there, each offering something a little different, meaning there really can be something for everyone.

Last week, we had the pleasure of meeting two lovely ladies who perfectly highlight this diversity:

✨ Sue McDonald – who runs local support groups in partnership with Complete Wellness Collective, creating safe, welcoming spaces for people to share, connect and heal together.

✨ Sarah Kallend – owner of Heart and Head Space, who offers a compassionate and holistic approach to supporting people through grief in a way that feels deeply personal and nurturing.

Our event isn’t about selling services or promoting any one approach — it’s about bringing people together. A chance to understand what local support is available, meet the faces behind these services, and hopefully find something that resonates with you or someone you care about.

We’re really looking forward to sharing this space with the community — and we hope you’ll join us.
