🎄 Grief at Christmas 🎄

Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time if you’re living with loss.
Even when others are celebrating, you may be carrying a heaviness that’s hard to put into words.

There are many reasons why grief feels different at this time of year—some you may not even realise until you’re going through it. Understanding these emotions can make it feel a little more manageable, whether you’re grieving yourself or supporting someone who is. 🥰

If you’re looking for gentle guidance, practical tools, and emotional support, my latest blog dives deeper into coping with grief during the holidays.

✨ Meet our guest therapists:

Billie Rose Therapy and Well-being Billie Rose – A compassionate counsellor with experience supporting the bereaved at Ashgate Hospice, now in private practice. She’s also created a series of Online Self-Help Courses, providing accessible counselling-level support from home at an affordable price.

We hope to see you there if you feel this event is for you! No need to RSVP just come along, we will be in the log cabin at the back. Coffee & Refreshments on us.

Winter Well-being tips from a counsellor!

Vitamin D comes from daylight so we suffer a natural and inevitable drop in this when the clocks change. That means getting out in daylight wherever possible becomes extremely beneficial.

It doesn't have to be for a long period of time for it to have a positive effect!

You may also find that a Vitamin D supplement can help this time of year too.

Winter Well-being Tips from a Counsellor

Loneliness and isolation benefits nobody's mental health but always increases during the winter months.

Focusing on small and easy ways that you can stay connected really helps to prevent feeling lonely or isolated.

It doesn't have to be flamboyant or expensive - it's who you are with that matters most!

There are befriending services ran by charities in most areas for those who feel like they have very few people in their life.

Bereavement Event – Tuesday 2nd December at Mad Hatter, Matlock

In the lead-up to our Bereavement Event, we’ve been so inspired by the incredible local people offering bereavement support in our area. There are so many approaches, each offering something a little different, meaning there really can be something for everyone.

We’re delighted to introduce another wonderful supporter who will be joining us at the event:

✨ Billie Rose – Billie has been practicing counselling since 2017, beginning her journey supporting the bereaved at Ashgate Hospice. She now works in private practice, supporting people with grief, anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, addictions, and more. Recognising that private counselling isn’t always accessible for everyone, Billie has created a bank of Online Self-Help Courses, providing counselling-level support from home, at your own pace, and at an affordable price.

You can preview her courses here: https://billierosetherapy.co.uk/online-courses/

Our event isn’t about selling services — it’s about bringing people together, discovering what support is available locally, and meeting the faces behind these services. This is a safe space to explore what resonates with you or someone you care about.

We can’t wait to welcome Sue McDonald, Sarah Kallend, Billie Rose, and the rest of our amazing local support network.

Not everything people are carrying is visible. On World Mental Health Day today, we’re thinking of those in farming who are navigating tough times — whether it’s a difficult season, financial stress, relationship strain, or simply feeling alone in what you're facing.

You don’t have to carry it all on your own.

RABI offers a wide range of practical, financial and emotional support tailored to farming people — including mental health training to help build confidence in supporting each other.

📞 Our helpline is available 24/7 at 0800 188 4444.

🤔What is Social Health?🤔

This is one tends to be less talked about than my previous posts on mental health and well-being, but definitely not one to be forgotten about.

Have you ever given your social battery much thought?

People pleasers tend to struggle with their social battery because they will take too much on due to feeling they shouldn't say no and then feel warn out as a consequence.

Learning to be more assertive helps people pleasers learn how to hold their boundaries and claim their free time back.

You can do so through my online self-help course for just £45 - https://billierosetherapy.co.uk/product/becoming-more-assertive-online-course/
