Interrupting isnโ€™t always a sign of rudeness. Research suggests that many people interrupt because of faster cognitive processing, anxiety, or impulsivity rather than intentional disrespect. Those with quick processing speeds may form responses before others finish speaking, while anxious individuals worry theyโ€™ll forget their point if they wait. Studies also link impulsive interruptions to ADHD, where rapid idea flow and limited short-term retention make pausing difficult. In many cases, the brain is simply moving faster than the conversation.
