It is with great sadness that white dove service may have released the last dove at Wilford Hill crematorium this week.
White dove service have released doves from Wilford hill for six years now without issue, our doves are trained to return home to our lofts in Melbourne.
We have been vetted, inspected and approved by our local council and hold an animal welfare licence.
I can understand the banning of releasing balloons, lanterns etc, as they can cause damage to the environment, burn down barns and are left where they land, but to ban our doves is something else when they are released, they don’t land and fly straight back home.
Mourners get a great satisfaction from releasing doves at a funeral.
White Doves Symbolise Peace & Serenity
A Dove release at a Funeral or Memorial service is a healing and peaceful tribute. A beautiful way of expressing a final goodbye… wonderful closure.
"Oh that I had wings like a dove for then I would fly away and be at rest." Psalm 55:6
Nothing can prepare us for the loss of a loved one. It is one of the most difficult times we will ever have to face. As we mourn our loss, we remember and celebrate their life.
White Doves are released at funerals and memorial services to symbolise the lift of the soul to heaven. It gives family and friends another way to bid farewell and to begin their healing process. The beauty of the doves can lift people's spirits, helping them realise that their loved one is now in a better place and that someday they will be reunited.
We have lot’s of words and poems to choose a reading prior to the release.
Come with me The Lord saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So he put his arm around you And whispered “come with me” With tearful eyes we watched you suffer And saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Your beautiful smile at rest, God broke our hearts to prove He always takes the best. It’s lonesome here without you, We miss you so each day. Our lives just aren’t the same Ever since you went a way, When days are sad and lonely And everything goes wrong, We hear you gently whisper, “Cheer up and carry on” Each time we see your picture, You seem to smile and say, “Don’t cry, I’m in God’s keeping, We’ll meet again someday.”
