One thing that I've always been a big advocate of is the idea that prevention is the best cure for anything.
Many of my clients are regulars, booking in periodically for their 'MOTs', but there's still this idea that goes about that services such as mine are only for those who are in significant pain. But I find this a bit odd - for instance would you...
πͺ₯ Only brush your teeth when you have toothache?
π¦· Only see the dentist when you have tooth decay?
π Only visit the optician when your eyesight starts to deteriorate?
π Only service your car when it breaks down?
So why then would you neglect the rest of your body despite the fact that we expect so much of it? The average person walks the equivalent of 4x around the earth π π£ during their lifetime - more for people with active jobs, and an athlete's physical demand is even more still.
The reality is we expect our bodies to just work and we rarely stop for a second to think about how precious it is as we only get one. In fact, most people would never neglect their pets like they do themselves. Whenever treatment or annual vet check-ups are needed, they're always quick to oblige, and they would never just ignore their dog or cat if they were limping around πβπ¦Ίπ
And isn't it strange how we take care of our cars more than ourselves?! π¨βπ§
Even when I see my monthly clients who come in with no pain at all, there are normally still some tightnesses/restrictions which I pick up on, which; if left unchecked, could start causing problems in a few weeks or months...
Yes there is the time and cost aspect of booking in regularly, but imagine the extra cost of having more appointments when things do finally go wrong - these cases normally take more sessions in quick succession to correct when they've been neglected for longer! So think of it as similar to an insurance policy, for the cost of a meal out! πππ₯
