Thank you to Galley Hill Primary School and the Parvin family for raising over £1,724 for Teesside Hospice in their Rudolph Run! ✨
One of our In-Patients, Lee Parvin, passed away last year after his brave battle with cancer. Before his death, he gave his son, Thomas, a challenge to organise a Rudolph Run at his school before Christmas. Thomas took on the challenge, and with the help of his school they managed to organise three races - one for Nursery and Reception, one for Key Stage One, and one for Key Stage Two.
After delivering antlers and noses to each class, Thomas gave a special announcement at the start of the first two races: "Reindeers Ready? Ready, steady, go!!!" 🦌
He then took part in the third race himself, as well as keeping track of how many laps the children completed by stamping their running cards with little Rudolf noses and giving a countdown to finish running.
Everyone had a great time, and Thomas gave a small speech at the end thanking everyone for taking part in honour of his dad, the older children even came up to Thomas to give him high fives and fist pumps of thanks for organising the event.
They managed to raise an amazing total of £1724, which was over double of Thomas' target! The school shared:
"Thomas's mum, Jennifer also set a personal goal to raise money for the hospice that would equate to the cost she believed Lee's care was during his time at the hospice. She set a goal of £20,000 with the amount raised by school her total has now surpassed this and is currently at £21,184. The Parvin family are a true inspiration and as a school we are proud of them all."
A massive thank you to Thomas and the Parvin family, and Galley Hill Primary for all their support - it truly means the world to us 💜
