Weโ€™re proud to be working alongside Teesside Mind to help shine a light on unpaid carers in our community ๐Ÿ’›

At Parkway Medical Centre, we currently have 359 unpaid carers on our register, ranging in age from 15 to over 80. Through simple but effective steps like text messages and registration forms. We've already been able to identify and support 60 carers who may have otherwise gone unrecognised.

If you are an unpaid carer, please let us know so we can ensure you receive the support youโ€™re entitled to by contacting the reception team.

Weโ€™re also making sure carers are acknowledged in hospital referrals, so the right support is in place when it matters most.

Our team recently took part in carer awareness training, and weโ€™re committed to ensuring all new staff receive this as part of their induction ๐Ÿ’™
This is a great example of how raising awareness can make a real difference for carers in our community ๐Ÿ’ฌ

We Care. You Care.

Weโ€™re proud to be working with Parkway Medical Centre to help shine a light on unpaid carers ๐Ÿ’›

There are currently 359 unpaid carers on their register, aged 15 to 80+โ€”and thanks to simple but effective outreach like text messages and registration forms, 60 hidden carers have now been identified and supported.

The practice is also making sure carers are recognised in hospital referrals, helping ensure the right support is in place when it matters most.

We recently delivered carer awareness training to the team, with plans for all new staff to receive this as part of their induction ๐Ÿ’™

Social Prescribing Day 2026

Today weโ€™re celebrating the power of connection, community and personalised support ๐Ÿ’š

Social prescribing is all about looking beyond medical needs โ€“ recognising that things like loneliness, stress, finances or life challenges can have a big impact on our mental health.

Our Social Prescribing Link Workers work alongside GP practices to support people in a way that truly puts them first.
โœจ We listen without judgement
โœจ We help you identify what matters to you
โœจ We connect you to local services, groups and activities
โœจ We support you every step of the way

Whether itโ€™s reducing isolation, building confidence or finding the right support, social prescribing can help you take positive steps towards better wellbeing ๐Ÿ’ฌ

๐Ÿ“ If youโ€™re aged 18+ and registered with a GP in Teesside, you can ask your GP practice to refer you โ€“ or get in touch with us directly via our website: https://ow.ly/aItw50Yy27P

Letโ€™s celebrate the difference community support makes ๐Ÿ’š

We had a lovely morning at Stewart parkrun volunteering alongside the wonderful core volunteers, our colleagues from Acklam Medical Centre and My Sisters Place. Some of our Doctors, nursing staff and reception team also parkran or parkwalked today๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘.

Dr Rigby has many many talents including being a parkrunner and huge supporter of Parkrun. As you may be aware she is also due to retire at the end of this month. We felt including a Parkrun in our Celebration of Dr Rigby's incredible 37 year career in medicine was very apt.๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Today was also and the amazing Swift-tees pacers raised ยฃ500 for Together 21 with .

Huge well done to all who ran, walked, volunteered, wore odd socks (or shoes) and / or supported others.โค๏ธ

This Saturday ( 21st March) to mark her retirement, Parkway Medical Centre are looking forward to volunteering at parkrun alongside colleagues from Acklam Medical Centre and the amazing core parkrun volunteer team at Stewart parkrun. Some of our staff will also be running and walking the course with our wonderful partner Dr Rigby.

It will also be World Down syndrome day and Swift-tees pacers are raising money for Together 21 with 'Rock Your socks' . We are encouraging volunteers, participants and spectators to wear odd socks
For each pair worn Swift-tees will donate ยฃ1 to this brilliant charity.

The run / walk starts at Stewart Park 9am Saturday, early arrival recommended.

โ€ผ๏ธMeningitis B โ€“ Communication โ€ผ๏ธ

We are aware there has recently been media coverage and discussion regarding the Meningitis B (MenB) vaccine, and some patients have contacted the practice with queries.
We would like to clarify the current position within the NHS.
There is currently no MenB vaccination programme for adults available as part of the NHS Vaccination Schedule. Unfortunately, this means the practice is unable to offer the vaccine to adults. We are aware there are local private providers available.
The MenB vaccine was introduced into the routine childhood immunisation schedule from 1st May 2015.

This means:
โ€ข If you are a teenager or young adult born before 1 May 2015, you will not have received the MenB vaccine as part of the NHS schedule
โ€ข The MenB vaccine is now routinely offered to babies as part of the NHS childhood schedule at:
o 8 weeks
o 12 weeks
o 12 months (1 year old)
If your child is eligible for the vaccine, they will automatically be invited as part of their routine childhood immunisations.

If you have any concerns about meningitis symptoms or believe someone may be unwell, please seek urgent medical advice.
For further information about meningitis and vaccinations, please visit the NHS website https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/meningitis/

If you require access to your vaccination records you can obtain this online through the NHS app. Due to an increase in calls regarding vaccination history requests, we have started a waiting list for this therefore we will be unable to provide this to you within our normal timeframe of 7 working days.

Thank you for your understanding.

Today we celebrate the incredible career of Dr Rigby as she prepares to retire at the end of the month.

For so many years, Dr Rigby has been at the heart of our practice, caring for generations of patients with kindness, dedication and compassion. She hasnโ€™t just treated illnesses โ€” she has listened, supported, reassured and made a lasting difference to the lives of so many people and families.

Her impact goes far beyond the consulting room. Dr Rigby has helped shape our practice into what it is today and has been a valued and trusted part of the wider community she has served so faithfully.

This video is just a small reflection of an extraordinary career and the huge appreciation felt by patients, colleagues and friends alike.

Thank you, Dr Rigby, for everything you have given over the years. You will be greatly missed, and we wish you a wonderful and well-deserved retirement when the time comes. ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ„โœจ Wishing all of our wonderful patients a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thank you for trusting us with your care throughout the year โ€” it truly means the world to our team.

As the festive period can be busy, please remember to order any repeat prescriptions in good time to ensure you donโ€™t run out.

We hope your Christmas is filled with warmth, joy, and good health, and we look forward to welcoming you again in the year ahead.

As you are aware we are an accredited IRIS practice and we are passionate about supporting Victims/Survivors of domestic abuse.

We also recognise that many NHS staff are themselves Victims/Survivors. Today marks the first NHS domestic abuse awareness day and our staff will be wearing white ribbons to support this awareness campaign. All staff in this practice are trained about domestic abuse and a specialist worker is available to provide support if needed.

You can talk to any staff working here. ๐Ÿ’œ
You can also contact my sisters place on 01642 241864 and ask to speak to an IRISi advocate educator. Below are some links for further info

A little bit of background......

Welcome. Generally speaking we are a family run surgery. Sure not in the strictest of terms but thatโ€™s certainly how it feels. Dr Beeby first started the surgery as a one man band way back in 1982 ! A long time ago ! We started in very humble beginnings in a small building in Hollowfield Square. Slowly but surely our popularity began to grow and we had outgrown the old small surgery and moved to our new fancy building that we are still in to this day !

Doctors and staff have arrived and left but on the whole when people come they tend to stay.. and the same can be said for our patients. A few of our reception staff have been with us for over 10 years, a couple are pushing 20 years so thatโ€™s some experience that has been built up between them. The rest are a mixture of newer members and those that are getting towards the testimonial mark. As for GPโ€™s we have a solid base of GPโ€™s who have been with us for a number of years and some new fresh blood that have started more recently.

We strive on being a flexible practice that tries to offer the best service that we can ! We will always have the patients best interests at heart with every decision we make.

So come along, join in the fun and make yourself feel part of the Parkway family........
