Hob nobbing with the locals...

Here's Alan Cawthorne our senior Podiatrist and Biomechanical expert in the Helmsley sweet shop. We do like to support local businesses especially when they are dressed like a couple of Oompa-Loompas. 😂😂

But we are not sure what he's doing in there, because he's supposed to be holding back on the sweets until Xmas. Unless he's buying his good lady Sharon Cawthorne some sweets for Xmas, we know she's partial to American Hard Gums and Sugared Almonds.

Anyway it's nice to support local trades but we really do think it's time to go back and do some work Alan, people's feet 👣 need help.

It's almost time for the Foot Elves to hang up their Crakows for the year. Did you know Crakows are the official name for the shoes with a curly toe an elf wears.

Apparently Crakows were very popular in the 15th Century, but we can't imagine they were very comfortable. 😒

INGROWING TOENAILS

There's been a lot of media coverage recently about ingrowning toe nails and A&E visits. So we thought a post about the subject would be helpful.

⚡If you've ever had an ingrowing toe nail, then you'll know they are extremely painful and are no joke. 💊😣

⚡ But did you know, there are two conditions that are often confused, involuted nails and ingrowing toenails.

⚡ Involuted toenails, often called pincer nails, curl around and strangle the nail bed, causing discomfort on both sides of the toe all the way down.

⚡ Ingrowing toenails involve a spike of nail, often left by faulty trimming, which pierces the skin and leads to redness inflammation and potential infection.

⭐ Here at Podiatry and Gait Clinics we can treat both ingrowing toenails and involuted nails. Plus various other nail problems, and we've been doing it for over 13 years, so we like to think we know what we are talking about . We also have a fantastic reputation, and proven track record of clinical excellence.

Winter Feet

❄️ Everyone is watching the pennies at the moment, turning the heating down, and putting extra layers on.

❄️ As well as wearing an extra jumper 🧣to keep you warm, don't forget about the importance of keeping your feet 👣 warm too.

❄️ Poor circulation can make your feet feel cold, and the last thing you want to do is warm them up by putting them too close to the fire, 🔥 especially if you are diabetic, or suffer from neuropathy (reduced sensation to the feet). Chill blains are not pleasant.

❄️ Wearing thick woolly 🧦 socks will help you keep those feet 👣 warm, and give some extra cushioning underfoot when walking round the house!

❄️ With Christmas just over two weeks away, maybe this year the gift of socks 🧦 might be a welcome idea! Or even a gift voucher at Podiatry and Gait Clinics, we'll be more than happy to help.

December Appointments

We are filling up fast, so this is the last time we are going to tell people to get their appointment booked if they need it before Christmas. Once the appointments are gone, they are gone.

We've had to make the decision this year, not to do extra appointments for people leaving it until the last minute to book.

Working longer hours to try and accommodate people as we've done in the past, means we don't get to enjoy the wonderful festive period in the run to Christmas, and we are left exhausted.

So if you know you'll require an appointment before Christmas, PLEASE do not wait. We will not be able to accommodate you. PLEASE get in touch.
