🧡 Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week

Next week, we’re supporting Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week — a campaign focused on mental health challenges before, during and after pregnancy.

Many parents experience anxiety, depression or other mental health difficulties, but support is available and no one has to face this alone.

Our new regional GP access report is now live!

All 14 Healthwatch across the North East & North Cumbria have worked together to listen to people’s experiences of accessing GP care, the NHS App and Pharmacy First.

Hundreds of people shared their stories with us, and the ICB is now using this insight to shape improvements across primary care. The report has already been praised at the Quality & Safety Committee and will now be included in GP bulletins and the March Primary Care Sub‑Committee.

Today, our Middlesbrough Lived Experience Project was joined by Healthwatch South Tees at a probation staff event. We had many interesting conversations, but key was the transition points where people are most at risk of falling through gaps, especially when moving into independent living.

There was strong agreement that lived experience-led approaches, early support, and better digital access to health services can make a real difference, even when systems are under pressure.

If you’d like to find out more about this work or how to get involved, please get in touch.

This week is World Immunisation Week 💙

Vaccines are one of the greatest public health successes of our time. Over the last 50 years, they’ve saved more than 150 million lives — that’s 6 lives every minute, every day, for five decades.

Protection starts with people choosing to protect themselves and each other.

🤝 Supporting the people you support

Meet our Engagement Team and discover how we can work with you.
We provide blood pressure testing, explain results clearly, and act as cancer and diabetes champions.

We also actively seek the voices of people experiencing multiple barriers. These lived experiences are critical in revealing the deepest inequalities in access and care.

Together, we can improve experiences and outcomes.
