How is your new year going so far.

Feeling a bit 🥱 Tired? 😠 Unmotivated?

That's normal sometimes, especially in the middle of winter.

Here are some reminders for anyone feeling a bit slow and generally unmotivated right now.👍

✨You may see loads of shining examples of new year new me online - great, but that's not a guide for how you need to do it. Remember you only see what others want you to see. 😉

✨You don't have to be a master of productivity, especially not in January.

✨Take each day as it comes and deal with what needs to be done on that day, even if that's doing nothing and spending the day just refocusing your mind.

✨Stopping and focusing on recharging your mind and energy levels, is more beneficial than a day running about stressed and getting loads done.

✨Forget what other people are doing - they are in a different situation with different resources and very different experiences.

✨MANAGING NEW YEAR ANXIETY✨

CALM YOUR SENSES

Today, we are talking grounding techniques.
When there are stressful events surrounding us, it's easy to get caught up in emotion and panic. 💥 We then go from logical brain to emotional brain.

Just telling yourself to calm down or being told to calm down probably isn't going to work - we need to convince our minds and bodies that all is well.

To break out of the anxiety cycle, we can start with some basic grounding techniques. This helps refocus the mind, take a break from the chain of thought, and bring us back to earth. 😌

This five-step exercise can be very helpful during periods of anxiety or panic by helping to ground you in the present when your mind is bouncing around between various anxious thoughts and what ifs.

✨Start by paying attention to your breathing. Slow, deep, long, and even breaths can help you maintain a sense of calm or help you return to a calmer state. Once you find your breath, go through the following steps to help ground yourself:

5️⃣ Look around your surroundings and find FIVE things you can see, look at those things, and describe them.

4️⃣ Acknowledge FOUR things you can touch or feel around you.

3️⃣ Acknowledge THREE things you hear. This could be any external sound.

2️⃣ Acknowledge TWO things you can smell.

1️⃣ Take one slow, deep breath.

By using your senses in this way, you can help to ground yourself in the moment.

I also specialise in Hypnotherapy for childbirth, providing classes and workshops in Teeside and surrounding areas.
