We are often asked about alternative ways to transport a loved one to the crematorium.

Today, Merritt’s of Midhurst Funeral Service had the honour of arranging a tractor and trailer for a gentleman who spent his life devoted to and passionate about tractors.

It was a fitting and deeply personal tribute, reflecting his character and the life he lived.

Tony will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and those who knew him.

A funeral service will take place on Friday 13th February 2026 at 1:30pm at St Catherine of Siena Church, Cocking.

On Friday, as the rain broke for a few gentle hours, family, friends, and members of the community gathered at St John The Baptist Church, Kirdford to pay their respects to David Parker.

Many of us in the community knew David - a hardworking chimney sweep, a passionate army enthusiast, and a devoted Morris Minor fan. He was a familiar and friendly face, someone who brought character, stories, and quiet pride to our local area.

It was deeply moving to see so many people come together to honour his life, share memories, and say goodbye. At Merritt’s of Midhurst Funeral Service, we felt privileged to support David’s family and to witness the warmth and respect shown by all who attended.

Our heartfelt condolences remain with David’s loved ones. David will be remembered fondly by many.

A small space for our community to say goodbye.

The Lintott Service Chapel, located in our premise in the heart of Midhurst, offers families a peaceful setting in which to pay their respects. Whether the service is led by a celebrant, a minister, or by family and friends themselves, this chapel provides a relaxed and supportive environment for a personal farewell.

The chapel is available for up to 45 minutes and is ideally suited to small gatherings, with seating for up to 10 people. While modest in size, it is a meaningful option for families seeking a simple, dignified, and private goodbye.
