We are delighted to announce Somer Valley House’s Pearl of the Month winner… drumroll please… the exceptional Laura! 👏✨

As our Head Chef, Laura consistently delivers creative, delicious, nutritious, and wholesome meals for our residents. Her incredible talent also shines through in the mouth-watering puddings, cakes, and sweet treats she crafts with such care.

Chosen by her colleagues, Laura is a truly deserving recipient of this month’s award.

Rhona and Emma were delighted to present the wonderful Sally Wyatt from ASAP Taxis with a hamper of goodies today, as a small token of our appreciation for the exceptional service she and her team provide. ASAP consistently delivers safe, caring, compassionate, and highly professional transport for our residents, often going above and beyond even at very short notice.

Jo, Sally, and Kai demonstrate extraordinary dedication. On one occasion, Jo travelled all the way to Birmingham to collect one of our residents, even assisting her with packing before safely bringing her back to us. Their wheelchair accessible vehicles are an invaluable support to our home and greatly enhance the independence and comfort of those we care for.

At Somer Valley House, we pride ourselves on offering an all-inclusive fee structure, which covers taxi journeys for activities, outings, and medical appointments. Having ASAP Taxis work so closely and reliably alongside us is truly a blessing.

We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and the outstanding service they provide to our residents every day.

🎳 A Bowls Battle to Remember! 🎳

We had an absolutely lovely visit today at Somer Valley House from Barry, Jenny, Don, and Jaquie of Purnells Bowls Club! 💚

They brought with them a wonderful spirit of fun and friendly competition, leading our residents in a lively indoor bowls challenge , bean bags and all! The room was filled with laughter, cheering, and a good dose of competitive energy as everyone aimed for those high scores.

A huge thank you to the fantastic team from Purnells Bowls Club for taking the time to visit and bring so much joy to our residents. We can’t wait to return the favour and join you at your rink soon! 🏆💫

Remembrance Sunday Reflections

Today, we came together to honour and remember those who gave so much in service to our country. Our residents were joined by members of both the Army Cadet Force and the Air Cadet Force, based in Midsomer Norton, who visited us after taking part in the town’s Remembrance Sunday parade.

The cadets spent time chatting with our residents, listening to their incredible stories and first-hand experiences from World War II, the Armed Forces, and National Service. It was a truly special and heartwarming exchange between generations , a time for learning, reflection, and shared remembrance.

We are deeply grateful to the cadets for their time, respect, and genuine interest, and to our residents for so openly sharing their memories. Together, we honoured the fallen and celebrated the enduring spirit of community and service.

We look forward to welcoming the cadets again soon for more meaningful connections and continued remembrance.

Today at Somer Valley House, our hearts turned to remembrance as we honoured the brave men and women who served our country.
The home was gently aglow with a sea of red, each poppy a symbol of love, gratitude, and respect. Together, residents shared memories, reflected on stories of courage and sacrifice, and painted poppies to display with pride. It was a touching day filled with warmth, reflection, and deep appreciation for all who gave so much so that we could live in peace.

We never underestimate the power of a good old pamper session here at Somer Valley House!
Today was all about self-care and smiles, as residents enjoyed soothing manicures and refreshing face masks. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, uplifting conversation, and a wonderful sense of togetherness leaving everyone feeling brighter, relaxed, and refreshed both inside and out. 💅 💅 💅 😊 😊
