One of my favourite aspects of Reflexology is that it aims to treat the whole person, not just the body, but the mind and spirit also. It also aims to promote deep relaxation and balance. A truly holistic experience to support your wellbeing. 🥰👣✨

The latest issue of Reflexions dives into how reflexology research is evolving.

One study explored the effectiveness of individual reflex points. Researchers discovered that stimulating the kidney reflexes on the foot led to increased blood flow to the kidneys. Interestingly, when other reflex areas were pressed, there was no effect on the kidneys.

We already know that reflexology works holistically to help balance the body, but it’s really intriguing to see how powerful a single reflex point can be on its own!

World Reflexology Week 2025 ✨️👣✨️ I thought I would celebrate by sharing some lessor known facts of this wonderful treatment.
👣 Reflexology is an ancient practice, which has been around since 2330 BC.
👣 Modern-day reflexology was first used by an ENT doctor called William Fitzgerald & went by the name Zone therapy. It was actually used as a form of early anaesthetic for very minor surgeries.
👣 In Denmark & Sweden, reflexology is the most popular form of holistic therapy
👣 Reflexology can be performed on our feet, hands, face and ears.
👣 Although Reflexologists are not allowed to diagnose, imbalances can potentially be detected from your feet.
👣 Miniature Maps of the Body – feet are detailed maps and depict various organs & body systems.
👣 Reflexologists can incorporate, ‘foot reading’ where the shape, size & characteristics of a person’s feet to gain insight into their personality traits & emotional state. Foot reading is not scientifically validated. I do not use it within my reflexology practice.
👣 Clients have reported seeing colour & / or feeling sensations in their bodies as their feet are worked upon. Some can feel energised after a treatment or indeed fall asleep during one. Everyone experiences it differently.
👣 Reflexology Paths – in some Asian countries you can find reflexology paths, which are paved walkways with a textured surface. This stimulates the feet as you walk and are designed as a a ‘pick me up’.
👣 Animal Reflexology – The idea is that animals gain the same benefits as humans, although this is still a subject of debate by vets. I haven’t trained or had any experience of this.
Reflexology is a rich & complex practice with deep historical roots & many benefits. While it’s often associated with simple foot massage, it’s much more than that. Reflexology’s ability to work throughout the body, & its potential to help with so many health issues, makes it a powerful tool for promoting overall wellbeing. Whether you’re looking to relieve stress, manage pain, or support your body’s natural healing processes, reflexology offers a personalised and holistic approach to health.

The hour you spend with me is YOUR time to relax. release and recharge. So it is important that you are comfortable.
• Let me know if the music is not relaxing, if it is too loud or too soft or maybe you would prefer silence.
• I have extra blankets, including a weighted blanket, and pillows to ensure you are warm and comfortable.
• Some clients appreciate the warmth on their back and shoulders from my heated pad, but others need to be cool.
• In my comfy couch, you have the choice of sitting upright, slightly at an angle, or lying flat, so let me know your preference.
• Some clients like to know what I am finding on their feet as we go, whilst others like to drift off.
As you know each reflexology treatment is bespoke to yourself on that day. I want to ensure you are as comfortable as possible, for your relaxation and to enhance the treatment. Please let me know if I can make any adjustments.
Best wishes Sue x✨👣🙏

No juicing elderberries as these little chaps can't be eaten raw. Instead I'm making Elderberry Syrup, a tonic for the Autumn months, full of vitamin C and anti-viral effects. Love a bit of foraging for these wild and strong plants 🌱💚🌱

Like the feet, ears are also a microsystem of the body. Ear reflexology, also know as Auricular Reflexology, works by stimulating specific reflexes in the ear, which in turn, correspond to different parts of the body. I do this by using my fingers. However an ear seed placed over the appropriate reflex will ensure the reflexology continues way after your treatment. There are contraindications to seeding, however if I feel they will help, I will always offer them at the end of your treatment. 👂🥰👣✨

Sharing another review, to show how reflexology is supporting this client’s health and wellbeing. We are also using ear seeds, which I place on the client’s ear at the end of the treatment, ensuring the reflexology continues in the days after her treatment. I often offer ear seeds as part of your reflexology treatment, if you would like to try one, please ask. 👣✨👂
