Due to diminishing demand of COVID-19 vaccinations, the company has started to close down vaccination service for branches which do not have appointments booked through next couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, this is affecting our Millom branch, hence we will be offering our final COVID-19 vaccinations today 27th November and Monday 1st December. Appointments have been amended to reflect this and we will be providing them on a first come first served basis on these days if appointments do not use up the multi-dose vial (6 doses per vial). The decision has been made to minimise wastage across sites and manage NHS resources effectively.

Waterloo House Surgery is still going to be running their clinic until further notice. Please contact the surgery directly if you want to book yours to be done after 1st December.

NHS Blood Pressure check for eligible patients available on demand! If you have not had yours checked in the past 3 months - visit our pharmacy to have it done. No need to wait, no need for an appointment, no excuse to avoid it - know your result and have it interpreted by a pharmacist the same day!

Research shows that high blood pressure (hypertension) might be affecting more than 5 million people who are not aware about it. The main reason why it goes undetected for so many is the fact that most people do not have ANY signs or symptoms - it is an asymptomatic health issue.

However, the effects of uncontrolled blood pressure can be extreme - damage might be inflicted to heart, kidneys, brain and eyes. Usually, when the symptoms begin showing up, it means damage may already be done.

There is a very straightforward process to prevent this - Rowlands Pharmacy Millom can help you find out whether you may be suffering with hypertension AND provide with diagnostic data.

A free NHS service is available to anyone who is not on any blood pressure medication (or have a diagnosis of hypertension), over 40 years of age (35 if you self-refer) or if one has family history of high blood pressure (no age restriction). We also provide BP readings at GP's request. All findings are shared with your GP to ensure the records are up-to-date.

If the reading is found to be high (over 140/90 mmHg) we are then able to provide a 24-hour BP monitor which is the golden standard for diagnosing blood pressure. We also interpret the data and refer you to the GP if there is an identified issue with blood pressure or there is an abnormal heart rhythm.

There is no requirement for an appointment. This is a service we are proudly providing on demand. So, there is no need to wait - find a time that suits you best and come speak with us at your convenience.

Friendly reminder - you can come to the pharmacy to ask for advice for most common conditions! If we identify the need, we will also supply required medications to treat the condition as well as OTC recommendations or appropriate referral if we suspect something more serious.

Over the past few years, NHS has been making improvements in Pharmacy services and reducing GP workload. To coincide with current NHS promotional campaign, we want to highlight the Pharmacy First service. Pharmacist consultations are available on-demand and on walk-in basis as well as can be pre-booked via our website rowlandspharmacy.co.uk

Please note, that Pharmacy First focuses on streamlining healthcare services, so that uncomplicated cases of the common conditions can be treated by having a consultation with the pharmacist who is allowed to make a supply of antibiotics upon meeting the criteria outlined in Patient Group Directions (PGDs).

Alternatively, anyone presenting with red flag or more serious symptoms will be urgently referred to their GP or other service providers ensuring prompt and quick care. We are happy to announce that we have received an additional supply of flu vaccines. We have set appointments out for the next 2 weeks to try and ensure equal opportunity for those who have not had a chance to obtain their flu vaccine so far. Stock is very limited, so we will keep it as appointment-only basis for the next 2 weeks. If you cannot find a suitable time, please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate.

NB if appointments will not get filled, the remainder of stock will be offered under first come first basis.
