Day and Night, Sun and Moon, in balance for one brief moment. Now the night will shrink to allow the day to grow, and the cycle goes on and on.
Thank you so much to Daniel for reading it so beautifully, and to my Sun and Moon, Phoenix and Artemis.
The Celestial Dance
At the edge of becoming,
Where night loosens its hold
And day has not yet taken breath
They find each other again
The Sun arrives. Golden, steady, alive
His warmth spilling softly across the land
Not in conquest but in longing
The Moon lingers,
Silver, watchful. Her light a tender offering
A quiet hand extended through the gentle dark.
For this brief and sacred moment,
They are equals.
No shadow claims dominion, no brilliance demands to be seen.
Only balance, only breath, only the space between.
They lean t’ward eachother at horizon’s trembling line
Where warmth meets cool
His energy hums through root and seed-
Through every hidden, waiting need-
A rising pulse beneath the ground-
The quickening of life all around..
Her touch is soft, yet deeply known
A silver light through on grass, river and stone
Drawing tides from unseen places,
Illuminating young lover’s upturned faces.
And in the fields, in hush and air,
Sit the wise moon-gazing hares,
Ears twitching t'ward the ancient sound
Of something high above the ground
They know this dance, as all the earth knows
As all have always known.
This is the balnce, the agreement of lovers
Who do not chase, do not flee,
But circle, return,
And choose, again, to simply be.
He warms her edges, slow and bright,
She cools his fire into light,
And in their joining, something stirs,
Not his, not hers, but ours.
A recollection
Of balance held within the skin.
Of giving, receiving,
Where neither must win.
And here, at the turning, the quiet divide
We stand in the space
Where both truths can reside.
Not lost in the dark,
Nor burned by flame,
But held in the moment
Where both are the same.
And in that stillness, soft and vast,
We are renewed. We begin again
