Managing stress at Christmas: Avoid problems....

Think about what people or situations trigger your stress and figure out ways to avoid them, for example

If seeing your Uncle stresses you out, skip his New Year’s party and just stop by for a quick hello on New Year’s Day.

Instead of staying in your bleak, childhood bedroom at your stepfather’s house, book into a nearby hotel.

You really have more control than you think.

Managing stress at Christmas: Don’t assume the worst...

Don’t start the Christmas season anticipating disaster. If you try to take the festivities as they come and limit your expectations -- both good and bad -- you may enjoy them more.

Grounding technique -When starting to feel anxious, stop and look around you, make a list (speak it out loud if alone, if in company make list in your mind) list 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste (think lemons)

Managing stress at Christmas: Forget the unimportant stuff

Don’t run yourself ragged just to live up to Christmas tradition.

So what, if you don’t get the lights on the roof this year?

So what, if you don’t get the special Christmas mugs down from the loft?

Give yourself a break. Worrying about such trivial stuff will not add to your festive spirit.

Managing stress at Christmas: Avoid unhelpful social comparisons

Don’t get hung up on what the Christmas holidays are supposed to be like

If you’re comparing your festivities to some ideal Christmas card greeting, or Christmas advert on TV -they’ll always come up short.

Don’t worry about festive spirit and take it as it comes.

Managing stress at Christmas: Stop n Flop!

When you start feeling stressed, stop what you are doing, take a deep breath, as you breathe out (with a sigh if you aren’t in company, otherwise breathe out quietly).

As you breathe out, drop your shoulders down and notice the release of tension

As December is here, the topic of Christmas crops up in many discussions. Whilst for some, it is 'the most wonderful time of the year'; for others it feels stressful.

So why do we feel more stressed at Christmas?

There are many reasons you may feel stressed at Christmas time, including:

Expectation that it’s the happiest time of the year.

Expectation that you should be doing certain things.

Reminder of lost loved ones.

Increased pressure to socialise.

The pressure of buying presents: Will they like it? Can I afford it?

Feeling like you should, or have to, socialise with people you may not want to socialise with.

So until Christmas, I will post some strategies that may make Christmas less stressful and perhaps enjoyable.

Black Friday for Hypnotherapists

TODAY’S OFFER (Friday 28th November 2025)

Long COVID & Long-Term Conditions Training (£197 Today Only) 🔥

If you’re seeing more clients with Long COVID, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, autoimmune conditions, persistent pain or complex multi-symptom presentations — you’re not imagining it.

These clients are:
• Exhausted
• Frightened by unpredictable symptoms
• Overwhelmed by uncertainty
• Often dismissed elsewhere
• Quietly wondering if they’ll ever feel like themselves again

And if you’re honest…
Working with them can sometimes feel clinically uncertain when you don’t have a clear structure to follow.

That’s why today’s Black Friday training focuses entirely on long-term health conditions — so you can work in a more informed, compassionate and clinically safe way.

🎓 Today Only: £197 (Usually £397)

Full 2-day CPD training (recorded):
Using Hypnosis & Psychological Skills to Help People Living with Long COVID and Other Long-Term Health Conditions

This specialist training shows you how to combine:
✔ Nervous system regulation
✔ Psychological insight
✔ Behavioural strategies
✔ Hypnotherapy
…into one clear, structured framework.

You’ll Learn How To:
✨ Understand what clients are really living with — physically, cognitively and emotionally
✨ Explain why symptoms persist (fatigue, pain, brain fog, flare-ups)
✨ Create early “quick wins” that reduce overwhelm
✨ Work with grief, identity loss, fear and frustration
✨ Stabilise mood, sleep and stress
✨ Teach pacing without guilt
✨ Manage setbacks without panic
✨ Build long-term resilience that’s realistic — not exhausting

What You’ll Receive Today:
✔ Full recording of the entire 2-day training
✔ Therapist workbook with scripts, strategies + case studies
✔ Ready-to-use client handouts (fatigue plans, pacing tools, flare-up plans, sleep tools)
✔ A complete, session-by-session framework
✔ Lifetime access
This is a real-world clinical toolkit — not theory without application.

⚠️ Black Friday Terms
💷 £197 instead of £397
👥 Only 5 places available
⏳ Ends midnight tonight (Fri 28 Nov) or when places go
