This World Diabetes Day, Diabetes UK are challenging the stigma surrounding diabetes and encouraging people to reflect on how they talk about the condition.

Diabetes UK found that, across the UK, over 8 in 10 people with type 1 and over 7 in 10 people with type 2 diabetes say they experience blame and judgement for their condition. It is important that we are all conscious of how the things we say impact others, because our words matter. Together, we can and help improve the lives of those living with diabetes.

🍂 Autumn Walks – Good for the Soul 🍂

There’s something truly special about autumn. Our residents love getting fresh air and enjoying one-to-one time in our beautiful gardens. We’re so lucky here at Elizabeth Gardens to have such stunning outdoor spaces, especially at this time of year.

The crisp air, the vibrant leaves changing and falling, and the cheerful birdsong make every walk a moment of peace and joy. 🌿

To mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, our residents have taken part in memorial services across the country to honour those who served and continue to serve our country. For many of our residents, these dates hold personal significance and provide the opportunity to not only honour their own past, loved ones and friends, but also share memories of such an important part of their lives.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

We are proud to support our community and our veterans through our ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, as we work towards the Veteran Friendly Framework for Care Homes.

Do you know the signs of a stroke? 🤔

During their lifetime, 1 in 4 people will have a stroke, so it is important to know the signs. This year, the focus of is that every minute counts when faced with symptoms of a stroke.

The symptoms of a stroke can be remembered with the simple acronym, FAST.

F - Face drooping 🫤
A - Arm weakness 🙋🏻‍♂️
S - Speech difficulties 🗣️
T - Time to call 999 📞

Everybody should be ready to so that we can be stroke.

👨‍🍳 Celebrating International Chefs Day at Elizabeth Gardens! 👩‍🍳

Monday was International Chefs Day, and we were keen to show our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing kitchen team! 💚

A huge thank you to our Head Chef Sabi and Second Chef Zak for the delicious meals they lovingly prepare every day. To mark the occasion, we gifted them a small token of thanks, and a special place to jot down all their scrummy recipes! 📖🍲

Their passion and creativity bring joy to our residents, and we’re so lucky to have them as part of our Elizabeth Gardens family.

We were truly delighted to welcome Watling Street Practice - Great Holm, Shenley Church End, Stony Stratford to Elizabeth Gardens, working together with brainstrust to support our wonderful community.👫

Their warmth and dedication made a real difference, and we’re already looking forward to having them back with us again very soon💚

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that our residents are making fantastic use of our gym facilities! 🏋️‍♀💪

Our dementia residents regularly enjoy gentle exercise using our specially selected gym equipment, which plays a vital role in supporting their mobility and overall wellbeing. Not only does this help maintain strength and independence, but it also contributes to reducing the risk of falls, keeping our community safer and more active every day. 💚
