Long NHS waiting times for musculoskeletal (MSK) treatment have a significant financial impact. Patients can wait up to 24 weeks for treatment, leading to billions in lost productivity as employees remain unable to work.

The current system is under strain, but there is an immediate solution: chiropractors.

✔️ With an average 1.5-week waiting time, chiropractors could help clear NHS MSK backlogs.
✔️ Reducing waiting times from 11 weeks to 2 weeks could generate £699 million in productivity gains.
✔️ By 2028, 250,000 more people could be treated, with savings estimated at £873 million.

Despite being recognised as Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) globally, chiropractors are not yet part of the NHS MSK pathway. Thousands of chiropractors are available and ready to provide care, offering immediate capacity to help tackle the growing backlog.

It is important that chiropractors can continue to offer their services to their patients for several reasons. These include:
🧑‍⚕️Patient care, particularly when a patient is in pain and needs to seek a consultation.
👨‍⚕️Offering a chiropractic service to key/essential workers, including those in the NHS.
👩‍⚕️Reducing the musculoskeletal care burden on the NHS, particularly if patients are finding it hard to access these services due to the pandemic.

Just a quick update to let you know patients are now being asked to wear a face covering or mask when attending for treatment in Milton Keynes.

Don't worry if you don't have a face covering to use as I will leave masks in reception for those who don't have one. The receptionist will also check your temperature on entering the building.
