>>About us

Milton Keynes Hospital occupies a 60-hectare site to the south of the city centre. We are a medium sized district general hospital, serving Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. The hospital has approximately 400 inpatient beds, and provides a broad range of general medical and surgical services. We have a busy A&E Department that manages all medical, surgical and child health emergency admissions. In addition to providing general acute services, Milton Keynes Hospital increasingly provides more specialist services, including cancer care, cardiology and oral surgery. We have responsibility for treating premature babies born locally. Some of the babies we treat are born as early as 24 weeks old (16 weeks early), and weigh as little as 500 grams. Some quick facts:

the Trust employs 3,000 staff
we have beds for 400 patients
70,000 people come to Accident and Emergency every year
we treat 20,000 elective patients, 200,000 outpatients, and deliver over 4,000 babies every year.

Adults who have an inpatient stay of one or more nights in November may be asked to take part in a national adult inpatient survey to find out what patients think about the care they have received.

This annual survey is part of the NHS Patient Survey Programme managed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and will look at the experience of patients aged 16 years or older. If patients are selected to take part, they will receive a questionnaire in the post.

Feedback from previous surveys has led to several changes to improve patient experience at MKUH so if you are asked to participate, we would encourage you to share your views. For more information, please visit our website: https://shorturl.at/mQ4Oy

We are proud to be part of the Generation Study at MKUH.

This national research project, led by Genomics England, offers newborns the chance to have their whole genome sequenced from a single cord blood sample at birth to help identify 200+ rare but treatable genetic conditions early - so families can access the right care sooner.

If you are pregnant, over 16, and expecting one baby, you may be invited to take part. Participation is voluntary and in addition to the standard Newborn Blood Spot test.

Today we reflect on the ultimate sacrifice made by members of our Armed Forces.

Their commitment to protecting and serving our communities will forever be remembered with gratitude, and their legacy of courage continues to inspire us all.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them 💙

We were delighted to welcome senior representatives from the New Hospital Programme, the Department of Health and Social Care, and Milton Keynes City Council to MKUH on Tuesday. Their visit marked a celebration of the exciting progress being made in preparation for the delivery of our new hospital building, funded as part of the government’s New Hospital Programme (NHP).

Highlights of the visit included the official opening of our new 450-space staff car park and a guided tour of the Imaging Centre, currently under construction and set for completion in March 2026.

Have your say on the future of your local hospital by completing our community survey, open until 17 November >> https://shorturl.at/euDLr
