Remembrance Sunday ❀️

Today is Remembrance Sunday, which is an incredibly important day for many of us, including many of our service users. Many of those we care for carry memories of wartime, some served, some waited, and all were affected.

Remembrance Day is an important time to honour and thank those who have served for our country, sacrificing their lives to protect ours and defend our freedoms.

National Stress Awareness Day: We're here to support you! πŸ’œ

Caregiving is an incredibly emotionally driven career, and we understand the toll it can have on your professional and personal life. We want to ensure our staff are looked after and not suffering in silence.

Stress can take a toll on both your mental and physical health, causing burnout, affecting your sleep, weakening your immune system and more. It is incredibly important to prioritise your health.

Our Mental Health Lead, Carol Jackson, is available to speak to if you need to open up to someone. To contact Carol please call 07751 828989 or email carol.jackson@dalecare.co.uk.

Our staff can also join our employee assistance programme, TELUS Health, you can access a free phoneline and 24/7 live chat as well as a range of podcasts and blog about how to support yourself mentally, physically and financially. To join TELUS, please email tilly.brown@dalecare.co.uk for your invitation.

We are here to support you! πŸ’œ

Male Carers Breaking Stereotypes: Challenging Misconceptions in Caring Roles 🧑

When we talk about carers, the image that often comes to mind is female. With this harsh stereotype, male carers often get overlooked. Together we can help change the narrative, not only to show support for all the male carers (both paid and unpaid) but by encouraging others to join the care industry.

Caregiving is not about gender, but providing support, compassion and empathy. Whether you are caring for a service user or loved one, your gender does not define the quality of care that you can provide.

For more information about how we want to support all male carers visit: https://www.carewatch.co.uk/2025/10/31/male-carers-breaking-stereotypes/

⭐ Misconceptions In Care: There are no benefits of working in the care sector ⭐

A common misconception about the care sector is that there are no benefits when working in the care sector. No matter what your role is, whether your a carer who works with our service users first hand or you're part of the office team, your hard work helps make a difference.

While many may view care work as 'just a job', our care staff understand the vital role they play in ensuring our service users live full and happy lives. Our care staff create meaningful connections with their service users to ensure they remain physically and mentally well.

With the extraordinary work our carers do day-to-day, we have several different benefits in place, both as a thank you for their hard-work and to ensure they are also cared for. These benefits include:
πŸ’« FREE access to our Employee Assistance Programme, TELUS Health (with discounts, cashback, support and advice)
πŸ’« Access to our Refer A Friend scheme (Β£300 for referring a friend to us!)
πŸ’« Eligibility for a Blue Light Card
πŸ’« Mental Health Support through our Mental Health First Aiders
πŸ’« Flexible working hours to fit around your availability
And many more!

We have vacancies available across Sheffield! For more information visit: www.carewatch.co.uk/careers/

REMINDER TO CHECK MEDICATION πŸ’Š

In the care sector we understand the importance of checking medication to ensure no mistakes are made. It's incredibly important to take your time with medication calls, whether your tending to a new service user or someone you've assisted before.

You should always check the following:
⭐ Is it the correct medicine?
⭐ Is it the correct dosage?
⭐ Is it in date?
⭐ Is it safe to take with other medication?
⭐ Has it been stored in an appropriate place?
⭐ Does the service user have enough stocked up?

If ever unsure, always contact the office for advice, we're here to support you! 🧑

Menopause Awareness Month: Supporting our staff and reducing the stigma πŸ’œ

The care sector is predominantly made up of women, which is why Menopause Awareness Month is an incredibly significant time for us. We recognise how deeply perimenopause can affect those experiencing it and would like to show our heartfelt appreciation for our dedicated care staff who continue to support others while managing these challenges themselves.

Whether you're experiencing hot flushes to fatigue, the symptoms can be challenging but with the right support, no one should have to suffer in silence.

It’s time to break the stigma, start the conversation, and ensure our carers feel cared for too.
