My friend called herself out… and it broke my heart ❤️🩹
We were chatting over coffee by the canal in MK last week when she said something that really stuck with me.
“I don’t even recognise myself anymore,” she sighed. (sighing is so common in women who feel overwhelmed btw).
“I’m tired all the time, snappy with everyone, and none of my clothes fit. I keep saying I’ll sort myself out… but I never do.”
Then she laughed, that kind of half-guilty laugh we do when we’re trying not to cry and said,
“I’ve been miserable for months, but I just keep pretending I’m fine.”
And in that moment, I saw it, the exhaustion, the frustration, the loneliness so many women feel in menopause.
We joked about how we “used to be fun,” how we could stay up late in All Bar One, fit into our jeans, walk in heels, and laugh for no reason…
But underneath the jokes was a quiet sadness.
Because she knew she was stuck.
And like so many women, she’d been hoping things would magically get better on their own.
