Please say hello to Lynzi, who is one of our newer care assistants here at Newford. Lynzi is a lovely, gentle care staff member who is new to the job but who is fitting in great and who has great empathy for our service users.
Lynzi will soon be starting an NVQ to help in her knowledge of the area and we think that the only way is up for her!

Rather than having a staff highlight, we are mixing it up a little and going for a service provider highlight. Please say hello and give a big round of applause to Angela (Angie) Hurst, who is Newford's foot health practitioner.
Angela has been with Newford for years and visits our service users every few weeks to keep their feet in tip top health. She goes the extra mile and treats her visits to our home as though she were visiting clients in their own home, taking the time with every individual and truly caring about every person she sees.
Angela also provides our service users with presents each year which she gathers together with her other clients, as well as the obligatory box of choccies for the staff of course!
Unfortunately, Angela is saying farewell to Newford, and is handing her reigns over to a good foot friend of hers. We wish her all the best in her retirement from Newford and hope she has a very merry Christmas. Thank you Angie 😊

Joe is the 1st of our christmas Entertainment this month with his Christmas themed live film show. We went on a walk around Ilam where Margaret remembered walking that same path bringing back joyful memories of her past that she shared with us all. We saw the Christmas lights being turned on in Uttoxeter where they had a snow machine making it look very seasonal. We finished off in Trentham gardens where a few ladies recognised recently going on our shopping trip.

Say hello to our highlighted staff member of the week - Tracy, who as you can see from this photo, is great at interacting with activity sessions and taking on entertainment of our service users at the drop of a hat!
Tracy is quite a new member of the team, yet she is fitting is great. We hope you continue to work well, entertain and be your lovely self!

Massive CONGRATULATIONS to our Floor manager, Julie Adams , who has successfully passed her Care Home Assistant Practitioner training.
Julie has been working hard for the past few weeks to learn new skills, take on extra training and even travelling around the UK for training sessions in order to pass this CHAPS qualification.
Julie has worked at Newford for many years and even worked alongside her dear Mum, Pam, for some years too. Julie is an integral part of Newford Nursing Home and this qualification now allows her to broaden her knowledge and cement in place what she already knows. She can lack confidence at times and so her passing this course with high marks just goes to show that she knows her stuff.
Julie, we never doubted you. Well done (and a big sigh of relief now!).

This staff highlight is the person responsible for our ever-expanding waistbands due to the lovely treats that she provides to our residents and at the greeting station!
Please say hello to Sabina, our second cook and pastry extraordinaire.
Sabina loves to create party food for special occasions as well as birthday cakes, pastries and such like. You may have seen photos of the recent birthday cake that she made in the shape of the number 100 for Audrey's birthday, or the brilliant spread that she helped to put on last Christmas. Sabina is a highly valued member of the kitchen team and has been with us for around two years now. Thanks for the treats, Sabina!

***STAFF HIGHLIGHT***
Lisa is our Laundry Assistant who makes sure that everybody has their clothes washed and back to them on time, as well as helping with cleaning and other domestic duties.
Lisa has been with us at Newford for many years, and if you don't see Lisa, you will always hear her first, with her infectious, booming laugh echoing through our corridors.
And as you can see from this photo, Lisa is most definitely up for a good chuckle with the residents, visitors and staff alike, to help to brighten their day.
