Menopause officially starts when you have no periods for 12 months. It usually occurs between the ages of 45-55, but it can happen much earlier.

The menopause can be a distressing time for many women - when your ovaries stop producing eggs and your hormone levels drop, you may experience menopause symptoms. Everyone's experience of menopause is different, but symptoms can include anxiety, 'brain fog', hot flushes, night sweats, joint and muscle pain and low s*x drive.

Community Pharmacy Scotland: Weight Management and the Role of Pharmacy

We are calling for the commissioning of a national NHS weight loss service delivered through the community pharmacy network.

Pharmacists are experts in medicines and behaviour change, and are uniquely placed to support patients in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

With 32% of adults in Scotland living with obesity, this is a critical public health issue. Community pharmacies can safely and effectively deploy GLP-1 medicines, reaching people who may not access traditional services.

This is one of our top policy priorities for the 2026 Scottish elections.

Do you know what your blood pressure numbers really mean?

Blood pressure shows how much force your blood puts on your artery walls as your heart pumps. It’s measured with two numbers:

Systolic (top number): the pressure when your heart beats

Diastolic (bottom number): the pressure when your heart relaxes between beats.

As we approach the end of breast cancer awareness month and in line with the "Be The Early Bird" campaign, please can we remind you all of the importance of breast self-examination:

Look for changes in size, shape, or skin.
Touch & feel – for lumps or thickening.
If you notice an abnormal lump, seek medical care—even if the lump doesn’t hurt.

If something feels off—even if it doesn’t hurt—talk to your GP!
