THE ART OF LIVING WELL 🌿 PART 2

NUTRITION: BREAKFAST 🥝 How I start my day for gut health & reduced inflammation.

Breakfast is my ritual - the first step in setting the tone for my day. I try to keep it clean, nourishing, and gut-friendly:

🌾 Glyphosate-free oats

🌱 Chia seeds - for fibre and omega-3s

🥛 Organic almond milk or full-fat milk - depending on the day

💪 Bovine collagen peptides & clean protein powder with adaptogens - free from heavy metals

✨ Maca powder & true cinnamon - for a natural energy lift and hormone health

🏋️ Creatine - for strength and recovery

🥝 Kiwi - also great at night to support sleep

🍓 Organic berries - blueberries for gut health, raspberries for fibre, vitamin C & polyphenols

🍶 Optional Greek yoghurt - for extra protein on long/training days

I focus on high-quality ingredients, often sourcing organic and local produce…Because if you’re eating something every day, it should be the best you can get. My goal is foods that support gut health, reduce inflammation, and keep me feeling vibrant.

THE ART OF LIVING WELL 🌿 PART 1
SLEEP - Do you know your chronotype?

I’ve always struggled with sleep, and up until I learnt this I had pretty much tried everything to get a good night’s sleep. I wondered what was so wrong with me that I couldn’t go to bed early and wake up fresh in the morning… but then I learnt about chronotypes and everything changed.

There are 4 chronotypes:

🐺 THE WOLF – Night owls who hit their stride when the sun goes down and creativity flows best after dark.

🦁 THE LION – Early risers who thrive on morning energy and love getting things done before noon.

🐻 THE BEAR – Daytime doers who follow the sun’s rhythm and feel most productive during typical work hours.

🦥 THE DOLPHIN – Light sleepers with active minds who peak in bursts throughout the day and need balance to recharge.

Knowing which one you are can really help you make a sleep schedule that works for your natural rhythms, and help you get that all-important restful sleep - essential for optimal health and recovery ❤️‍🩹

I know first-hand the impact stress can have on your health…

My life before I started .massage.therapy looked very different. I had a stressful career where I was working 60+ hour weeks, all whilst juggling single parenthood to my two girls. I saw the warning signs of burnout creeping up on me, but as someone who is motivated and high functioning, I didn’t listen and thought I just needed to try harder ✨

I lived in a constant state of stress but it had become so normal to me I didn’t recognise how bad things had become.

Until one day it eventually overwhelmed my nervous system.

It had taken such a toll on my mental and physical health it felt like someone had flicked my ‘off’ switch, like the light inside had gone out and I was struggling to function 💡

My body told me I needed to make changes. I needed to take better care of my mental, physical and emotional health.

I started running more frequently, and taking care of my body, and this reignited my passion for sports and performance 🏃🏻‍♀️

Then…when my youngest daughter, Grace, underwent spinal surgery in January 2020, everything changed…

I wanted to do everything I could to help her during her rehabilitation, so under medical guidance and using my previous knowledge I was able to safely and gently massage areas to manage the pain. This helped increase movement, flexibility and strength, and stimulate the nerves that were damaged from the surgery.

Through Grace’s journey, and my new found passion for physical and mental health, wellness, sports and performance, I gave up my management career to retrain and create my own wellness business in remedial massage 🤍🌿

I now help everyone from athletes, including Iron Man and Hyrox, to high-performing professionals optimise their health and recover from the physical and mental stresses of everyday life.

This is the start of a little series I’m going to be sharing called The Art of Living Well.

I was inspired to create this because I often get asked about my approach to health, wellness, longevity mindset, and how I actually look after myself day to day. So I’m going to share it all with you here ☺️

The series will centre around the four pillars of health:

I’m going to be sharing the practical tips that have really worked for me personally during my personal wellness journey.

This isn’t about being perfect or finding quick fixes, but things that have actually worked over time with patience and consistency.

Caption: AQUA MASSAGE THERAPY techniques PART 2 ~ Fire Cupping 🔥

This form of bodywork works differently to other techniques I use by decompressing soft tissues using vacuum suction.

But what does Fire Cupping actually do? 🔥

Cupping works to lift and separate tissues from the skeleton, creating space for the suction technique to pull toxin build-up from deeper tissues to the skin surface, moving stagnation out of the body to relieve pain from muscle tension.

Fire cupping pulls and stretches the muscles, tendons and connective tissue and the warmth helps to lengthen them…

This is a fantastic treatment for assisting healing and recovery, as it also works deep into the body through reverse massage, lifting and separating tissues through suction to relieve pain and speed up healing.

A moment of reflection…

I recently took a little break, a chance to slow down, prioritise my own wellbeing, and refill my cup so I could return refreshed and reconnected.

Spending time out on the sea, breathing in the sea air and nature’s calm, I paused to reflect on the first half of this year… and I’m truly grateful for how far this little business has come.

It’s all thanks to each and every one of my incredible clients!
