💊 24/7 prescription collection - Our MedPoint machine at Leadhills surgery is now up and running!

We have already had lots of patients register. For those that haven’t, registration forms can be collected from Moffat/Leadhills or downloaded from our website - it has FAQs attached.

✅ Order your prescription in the usual way
✅ Collect your prescription any time, day or night – 365 days of the year!

ℹ️ Please remember controlled drugs/refrigerated drugs cannot be collected from the machine e.g. Morphine- these would need to be collected from the Leadhills surgery on Mon/Wed - as is currently the case.

Leadhills shop collection will cease at the end of April.

This project Leadhills Dispensing Machine is supported by the Clyde Wind Farm and SSE Renewables, as managed by South Lanarkshire Council.

📺 TV Screen

Our waiting room now has a television screen installed to help share important practice information and updates to our patients.

We hope to utilise these screens to advertise local community events and resources to patients, improving community engagement.

We would encourage non-profit community groups/charities/event holders to email us with any information that they feel would be helpful to promote in the surgery on our screens. For example, Macmillan coffee mornings, local support groups etc.
Please email dg.gpadmin-y18659@nhs.scot and mark FAO PRACTICE TV RESOURCES ADMINISTRATOR

Please attach info as a pdf or hand in physical poster for us to scan on

‼️ Meningococcal disease in Kent - update

We have had a lot of patients concerned about the meningitis outbreak in Kent, so thought it would be helpful to share below:

The outbreak in Kent is local to that area, there is no evidence of any increased risk in Scotland and therefore no additional vaccination campaigns are recommended locally.

⚠️ Early detection of meningitis and sepsis symptoms are important. More information can be found at https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-and-poisoning/meningitis/

🏥 If you suspect you have symptoms consistent with meningitis you should seek urgent help by calling 999/going to A+E immediately. Do not delay seeking help - meningitis is a medical emergency.

In relation to meningitis vaccines:

💉 Vaccination services are now run by NHS Dumfries and Galloway vaccine team (not GP practices). Information can be found at the following website https://www.nhsdg.co.uk/immunisations/

Q - Has my child been vaccinated against meningitis?
A - Anyone born before 2015 will not have received MenB as part of their childhood schedule. There are no plans to offer MenB vaccine routinely to anyone other than infants (this happens as part of routine vaccine schedule). If someone in Scotland needed the vaccine as part of an outbreak response, they would be contacted directly.

Q - My child has missed their appointment, what do I do?
A - Children who haven't received all their scheduled doses of MenB vaccine can be offered catch up doses up to 2 years of age. Contact the vaccine team (see above link).

Meningitis ACWY vaccine is delivered in schools and is offered to all young people who are in S3 (around 14 years of age) and those who are homeschooled. Men ACWY can be given up until the age of 25, especially important before starting university or college. You can contact the vaccine team for this (see above link)

Q - Why can't I/my child get Men B vaccine?
A - Recommendations about who should be offered vaccines are made by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, which is an independent expert group that advises the government on vaccine policy. Their recommendations are based on protecting those at highest risk. While it is effective at protecting infants against meningococcal disease, the MenB vaccine offers limited impact on reducing carriage and transmission, and it does not cover all circulating MenB strains

⚠️ We cannot provide or give recommendations on private vaccinations - the private company would do this.

💉📑 We can provide a summary of your immunisation history if required. Please request via the admin section of eConsult.

1️⃣ week of eConsult 🖥️

We would like to thank our patient’s for their patience during our switch to eConsult this week! 😊

📋 Overall it has went well with the majority of patients managing to complete an eConsult themselves.

💻 Our staff have happily helped the minority with no internet access or no family to fill in for them. As always, if you are struggling but do have internet access, please pop in and we can help you use it - several people have found this helpful. No one will suffer from access due to eConsult.

✅ Each day the duty GP has reviewed ALL completed forms and either offered advice directly or offered either a same day or routine appointment, depending on clinical urgency.

💬 We have utilised texts/emails for those who prefer this.

☺️>😊 eConsult has allowed us to increase F2F consultation numbers within our same staff resource.

❗️We’d just like to highlight that eConsult is totally separate to Patient Access (that is used to order medicines). You DO NOT need to register for eConsult, simply click the blue box on our website homepage as per the below video. Then select the relevant option.

📢 eConsult is now live

📢 New way to access Moffat Medical Practice

📲💻 eConsult begins this Monday 2nd March 2026

You will be able to submit an eConsult from 07:00-16:00 Mon-Fri to request help.

Practice nurse/healthcare assistant appointments are booked as normal on the phone.

Reminder - you don’t need to register. You only need to click on eConsult link on our website (see below) and fill in a form whenever you need to contact us about a medical issue

ℹ️ We hope people that attended our information drop ins found these useful. Please keep asking our staff if you have any practical questions. The FAQs and videos are pinned to the top of our page and available in surgery too.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 The majority of our patients will be able to use this, but please remember, if you can’t access the internet (on your phone/computer) and you have no friends/family that can fill in a form for you, please just call and our reception team will help – no one will be excluded from getting help – don’t worry!

Please share!
