Spring Covid and RSV clinics

Letters inviting eligible patients to an appointment will be sent this week. Our clinics this spring are on:

24th April – Raglan
25th, 26th April and 9th May – Monnow Vale

(these are the only clinics planned, if you are unable to attend any of the dates above you will be invited to a Mass Vaccination Centre from June onwards)

Eligible groups for this spring are:
Covid
P0.3 Currently Immunosuppressed
P2.1 All those 80 years of age and over
P3 All those 75 years of age and over

RSV
PR2.1 All those 80 years of age and over
PR3 All those 75 years of age and over
PR6.2 Pregnant women

Please contact the practice to rearrange your appointment or decline your vaccination/s. We are required to invite eligible patients 3 times so if you do not want the vaccination/s please contact us.

RSV is a common virus that spreads in autumn and winter. Almost all children have had RSV by the time they are two years old. It is common for older children and adults to have the virus again.

**Update: We are extremely sorry for the disruption caused today. We will be back open as usual tomorrow 9am until 6pm but closed for lunch between 1 and 2. Those that would have previously called Monmouth for appointments etc, we have a temporary set up to still access this service and receive calls but please be patient as there may be a small delay - 01600 713811

We have received several queries in the last couple of days about the Men B vaccination. Currently we only vaccinate under 2's as part of the routine screening/vaccination.

Meningitis can be caused by several different type of meningitis bacteria, so several vaccinations offer some protection against it.

It seems that all of our posts start with “There’s a long way to go…”. It does feel that it’s starting to come together now though. The walls are back up and the new floor is being put down next week.

Dispensary

Just a reminder to everyone that we have a temporary dispensary set up at the back of the surgery. From here you are able to order medication, collect paper prescriptions and collect dispensed medication (if you are one of our dispensing patients). Opening hours are between 9am and 6pm, but we are closed between 1 and 2 for lunch.
Please note though that we are unable to accommodate dispensing patients wanting to change their location between Monmouth and Raglan due to staffing, you need to stick to your allocated location please.
Please do not go to Monnow Vale to collect prescriptions, unless a clinician has agreed this with you.

The long process of getting back into the practice begins. The building is being prepared for the drying out phase taking us to early January. We can then start rebuilding the ground floor. We will soon to able to dispense from the practice in Monmouth using a temporary shelter and hatch at the back of the building (see the last photo) and will let you know when this is ready. We are unlikely to be back in the surgery until Spring/Summer. Please continue to be kind to the team as we adapt to the new ways of working and find ways to look after our patients with as little disruption as possible.

We are set up in Monnow Vale and ready to take your calls from Monday. The clean up of the practice has begun. We will share more info over the coming weeks about medication pick up etc. Thank you to the staff at Monnow Vale for being so welcoming and helpful.

We are now able to answer incoming calls as normal. We have a temporary set up in Monnow Vale where the reception team are taking the Monmouth calls and Raglan calls will be answered from Raglan.

If you are a Monmouth patient please call the Monmouth number in the usual way.
