We're excited for what 2026 will bring, all the new people we will meet and the new connections that we will make. To begin the year, we're reflecting on some of the wonderful moments shared by residents and colleagues across Anchor that made 2025 so full. We hope that sharing some of the happy celebrations and achievements will get you all looking forward to the new year ahead.

Our care teams plan activities throughout the year for residents to enjoy, from crafting or baking inside, to days out or community get-togethers. In 2025, residents at Anchor - Orchard Gardens enjoyed a special visit from some therapy horses.

The experience was made possible by Tammy, a dedicated carer at Orchard Gardens, who volunteered her day off to bring in her family’s horses.

Among the many special moments that morning, one stood out in particular. For resident Dave, the visit stirred up precious memories of his beloved childhood horse, Sally.

"It's strange how suddenly something from so long ago can come flooding back. I didn't expect to feel that again. But standing there with those horses, I was right back with Sally. She was everything to me when I was young. Those feelings of trust and friendship, they never really leave you." 💜

January 2025 saw the practical completion of The Wharf in Rochester. The Wharf offers one-bedroom apartments for rent and two and three-bedroom apartments designed with the lifestyle and needs of people aged over 55 in mind. As part of Rochester Riverside’s wider regeneration programme, the area will soon benefit from new public open spaces, retail and leisure facilities and improvements to gateways between the river and the High Street.

In 2025 our Be Well service turned 5 years old. What started as a simple idea to provide residents with the resources to take care of their wellbeing has grown into a fantastic service. There are now 5 different strands of our Be Well service - Be Digital, Be Connected, Be Wise, Be Skilled and Be Active - each designed to support a different aspect of wellbeing.

Over the last five years, 738 residents have signed up to our Be Skilled service and our Virtual Coffee Mornings have been attended 1339 times.

Our Loving Later Life Awards run each year and give recognition to residents living with us who make a real difference to their community. Whether it's fundraising, looking after communal gardens or being a good neighbour.

Whether it’s through being a friendly and helpful neighbour or sprucing up shared spaces, these individuals and others like them make up Anchor’s vibrant communities and make our housing locations enjoyable places to live.

As 2025 draws to a close we're looking back at some of the wonderful moments shared by residents and colleagues across Anchor this year. We hope reflecting on some of the happy celebrations and achievements that have made this year so full will get you all looking forward to the new year ahead.

In our care homes, our care teams support residents to celebrate days in the year that are important to them.

Christmas is an important time for many living with us. Our care colleagues organised lots of festive activities to make sure it was a special occasion for everyone who wished to mark it. From crafting Christmas decorations and singing carols, to decorating trees and baking festive treats, each activity is bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of togetherness.
