I lived in Indonesia for 12 years and this was a staple in my diet. Soto ayam is a traditional Indonesian chicken soup known for its bright yellow broth, which gets its color from turmeric. It’s comforting, aromatic, and one of the most popular dishes across Indonesia.

🥗 1. Lean protein for your body
The shredded chicken provides high-quality protein, which helps:
Build and repair muscles
Keep you full longer
Support your immune system

🌿 2. Anti-inflammatory spices
The golden broth is packed with natural ingredients like:
Turmeric → contains curcumin, known for anti-inflammatory effects
Ginger & garlic → support digestion and immunity
Lemongrass → adds antioxidants
These ingredients are often linked to reduced inflammation and better overall health.

🥦 3. Light but nourishing
Unlike creamy soups, soto ayam is:
Low in fat (especially if not fried heavily)
Hydrating due to its broth
Easy on the stomach
Perfect if you want something filling but not heavy.

🥕 4. Balanced nutrients
With additions like eggs, bean sprouts, and noodles or rice, you get:
Protein (chicken, egg)
Fiber (vegetables)
Carbohydrates (rice/noodles for energy)

💧 5. Great when you’re sick
Like many chicken soups, it’s comforting and:
Helps keep you hydrated
Can soothe a sore throat
Provides easy-to-digest nutrients

🙏 to Bleu Jolie for bringing ingredients from Indonesia 🇮🇩 🎋🙏

Why do I acupuncture the foot 🦶 to clear a headache?

Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gallbladder 41 (足临泣 – “Governor of Tears”) is a powerful acupuncture point for relieving headaches, especially those on one side of the head (temporal headaches).

• GB41 is on the Gallbladder meridian, which travels up the sides of the body and head
• It helps clear stagnation and reduce pressure along this pathway
• Commonly used for stress, tension, and hormonal headaches

🌿 Bonus benefits:
• Eases eye strain
• Helps with migraines
• Supports emotional flow (frustration & stress relief)

Acupuncture is a gentle and natural way to support anxiety.

By stimulating specific points on the body with very fine needles, it helps calm the nervous system, encourage relaxation, and release natural “feel-good” chemicals that support a more balanced mood.

Many people feel deeply relaxed during treatment (some even fall asleep!) and often notice better sleep afterwards.

A small reset for the body that can make a big difference for the mind. 🌿

In TCM, phlegm (Tan, 痰) is considered a secondary pathogenic factor that arises when the body’s fluid metabolism is disrupted—especially by weakness in the Spleen and Lungs.

There are two main types:

1. Visible Phlegm
The kind you can see or feel

Chest congestion
Coughing up mucus
Runny nose

2. Invisible Phlegm
Not physically seen but believed to obstruct the body

Can affect:
Mind (brain fog, confusion)
Heart (palpitations)
Channels (numbness, dizziness)

⚖️ How Phlegm Forms (TCM View)

Phlegm is usually linked to dysfunction in:

Spleen → fails to transform fluids → dampness accumulates
Lungs → fail to disperse fluids → mucus builds up
Kidneys → weakened water metabolism
This leads to Dampness, which can thicken into phlegm over time.

🌡️ Common Patterns of Phlegm
TCM often classifies phlegm into patterns:

Phlegm-Damp → heaviness, lethargy, sticky sputum
Phlegm-Heat → yellow thick mucus, fever, irritability
Cold-Phlegm → clear, watery mucus, chills
Phlegm-Mist (blocking the mind) → dizziness, mental confusion

🧍 Symptoms Linked to Phlegm (Beyond Lungs)

Chronic cough or asthma
Nausea or bloating
Dizziness or vertigo
Brain fog or mental dullness
Lumps or nodules (e.g., cysts)

Wrap up warm peeps!

To Every Kind of Mother 💐

A mother is not only
the one who gives us breath.
She is the one who holds our storms,
who listens through our mess.

She is patience in the silence,
gentle strength in every day,
a steady light that guides our hearts
whenever we lose our way.

Some mothers carried life within,
and felt a heartbeat grow.
Some mothers hold their love in ways
the world may never know.

Some dreamed of tiny footsteps
that never came to be,
yet their hearts still carry oceans
of quiet, endless love so deep.

Today we honour every mother:
the ones who raised, the ones who tried,
the ones who loved with open hands,
the ones who mourned and still survived.

Because motherhood is more than birth,
it’s love that chooses to remain.
It’s hope, and care, and open arms
through joy, through loss, through pain.

Happy Mother’s Day
to the mums beside us,
the mums we remember,
and the women whose hearts hold the love
of a mother.

Awesome to see London’s Acupuncture rockstars featured in the recently ⭐️. Our practice is both complementary and integrative to Western Medicine, so it’s encouraging to see more people understanding the myriad of benefits and trying acupuncture for themselves with success.

Shout out to those featured and gratitude for keeping Acupuncture in the press. Now we need the same coverage up North 🥰

Congratulations 🥂 to:
