This is my mum ✨Nettie✨

Nettie was a nurse for most of her life, working in hospitals, nursing homes and homeless shelters. She was kind, smart, and fierce in her beliefs that everyone (no matter what) was deserving of help.

She gave me my empathy, and my rock solid belief in equality, compassion and community. She also would take any opportunity to teach me about human anatomy - mostly when writing me notes to get out of PE 🤣

I lost my mum when I was 20. The help she’d spent a career giving others was unfortunately not given to her until it was too late. It’s been almost 15 years and I still miss her so much.

One of the things I enjoy most about my job is helping people. Whether you’re in pain or stressed out or you just want to overcome something that makes you anxious, knowing I’ve helped even in a small way is genuinely the best feeling. It also makes me feel closer to my mum in so many ways.

I’m so thankful for everything my mum taught me, and the beliefs she instilled in me that helped me to create OMDB 💖

I hope wherever she is that she’s proud of me.

p.s. I’m sending all my love to everyone who struggles on Mother’s Day, for whatever reason. Your pain is valid and you are never alone xoxo
