At the end of June Caroline is going to be doing an 80 mile cycle, along with her friend Sylvia, in aid of Kilbryde Hospice. Santa is preparing for his long journey and having his eyes examined to ensure his vision is sharp.

How often should I have an eye test?

Your eyes can change gradually so you may be unaware these changes are taking place. Having regular eye examinations is important to help detect these small changes and potentially harmful conditions.

The NHS recommends that you should have your eyes tested every 2 years This can be more often if advised by your optometrist.

In Scotland all regular eye examination costs are covered by the NHS. If you feel there is something new or different with your eyes, these inbetween examinations are also covered by the NHS.

Look after your eyes during lockdown 👀

If you are working from home, it's easy to just spend all day staring at your computer screen. Aim to take eye breaks every 20 minutes or so. Look away from the screen for twenty seconds, at something far away.

👩‍💻 Excellent advice - especially for those of you working from home just now. 👀

If you use a screen all day, then regular breaks are good for your eyes. Even if you just look away from the screen for 20 seconds a few times an hour.
