Massage2nurture Does pregnancy leave you feeling like a beached whale, with nausea? Tired, aching, emotional, stressed, sad, happy, unsure! Maybe its time for a massage.

Does pregnancy leave you feeling like a beached whale with morning sickness? Tired, achy, emotional, sad, happy, unsure? Does your newborn seem to be unsettled, unhappy, constipated, or just seem to love the sense of touch? Perhaps I can help. As a Mum of two, and a trained massage therapist since 1998, I am trying to blend my massage skills and my newly acquired knowledge since becoming a Mum. My pregnancies, although straightforward, saw me approaching life in very different emotional states, and perhaps consequently I had two very different newborns to learn with. During my pregnancies, if I had known a massage therapist trained in pregnancy massage, I would certainly have used them. Especially if, as in massage2nurtures case, I could have had treatment in the luxury of my own home. My background in sports rehabilitation and massage expects me to have excellent knowledge of anatomy and soft tissue injuries. During pregnancy, although not injured, your muscles, ligament and joints are under great stress as your body shape changes and adapts for baby to grow. So why not treat yourself to some TLC? It may just help you to unwind, alleviate stress, aid sleep and give you some “me time” to prepare for the excitement that lies ahead. Once baby arrives, as well providing a very welcome support session, perhaps it is babes turn for massage. I attended baby massage classes with my first born, and I admit I was sceptical that I would need guidance in massaging MY baby, being that I was already a trained masseur of many years. However it gave me the time to connect and bond with him, and taught me many new strokes that I would never have performed otherwise. His colic and constipation eased, and we continued the sessions at home to great effect. Once my daughter arrived I started to apply my skills to her, not to relieve any symptoms, as she was a very settled baby, but simply to enhance her love of touch. If you feel you would like help with your pregnancy, or with your newborn, please feel free to contact me. I will travel and do home visits within a 5 mile radius of Camberley at no additional cost. If there are a group of you requiring training in baby massage that can be a cheaper alternative to my services. I look forward to meeting you,
Best wishes
Sarah Batey.
