As many cows are now back out to grass and the weather so variable, cows are at more risk of mastitis causing pathogens.

Here are some top tips for preventing bacteria from getting into teats:

✔️Keep any areas where cows tend to gather clean and dry
✔️Aim for a 21-day rest period between grazing paddocks to support grass regrowth and reduce disease pressure
✔️Wear gloves when milking, and change them as needed
✔️Clip tails if needed so they are not hanging around the udders
✔️Gently clean the teats with Valiant Ultra preFoam or Ultra Versatile and dry teats before milking.
✔️Take care when putting clusters on and taking them off to avoid damaging teat ends
✔️Apply a good post milking teat disinfectant such as Valiant Ultra Versatile or Ultra Barrier, ensuring full coverage
