Breast screening aims to find breast cancer at an early stage, often before there are any symptoms. Early detection may often mean simpler and more successful treatment.

A visit to a breast screening unit usually takes less than 30 minutes and the mammogram only takes a few minutes.

NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria have set up a Love Your Cervix Campaign to encourage women to book a screening. This week is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week and all women aged between 25 and 64 are encouraged to book a cervical screening appointment every 5 years. Don't put it off and book an appointment today!

Tune into the ‘Aap Ki Sehat’ health radio show with presenter Shakil Salam on Thursday 8th January 2026 from 4pm till 6pm LIVE on Pendle Community Radio - Awaz 103.1FM

Joining presenter Shakil Salam at 4.15pm will be guests Angela Bennett who is the Lead Participation and Engagement Officer along with Faria Atique who is a Participation and Engagement Officer at Carers Link Lancashire.

During the LIVE radio show, our guests from Carers Link Lancashire will be discussing the services and support they provide and the barriers facing carers where they do not recognise themselves as carers and therefore do not receive the support they need.

At 5pm we will then be joined by guests Dr Nicola Finnigan who is a GP Partner and the Health Inequalities Lead for Pendle along with Lynn Lockett who is the Clinical Outreach Practitioner at PCN Pendle West. They will be discussing the importance of cervical screening and raising awareness about the ‘Living Well Bus’ which will be coming to various locations within Pendle.
