Last night’s Cooking class with Chef Dan was a great hit. The guys chipped in and helped Chef with the cooking and learnt how to cook a Chicken Masala curry and Pilau rice from scratch.

The curry and rice were amazing, and the lads even took some home.

Massive thanks to Hodge House Community Centre Rafida and Tony for funding the session. They will provide this service for the guys once a month. Keep an eye on our page for the next one.

Please join us anytime. If you’ve got a craving for practical cooking skills and a friendly, supportive session, join us next time at Hodge House Community Centre.

Ps you can see the concentration on their faces 🤣

This Thursday we’re doing something a little different at our group.

We have a cooking class with Chef Dan 👨‍🍳 who will be cooking up a storm with a step-by-step tutorial 😋

Our Men’s session will run as normal from 6:15pm. If you want to learn to cook a proper curry, join Chef Dan at 5:00pm at Hodge House Community Centre.

The idea is to introduce cooking at home to the guys using fresh ingredients, teaching how to cook and save loads of money, better than takeaways and processed foods.

Benefits of cooking at home**:

Healthier meals with control over ingredients and portions

Cost savings compared to takeaway or pre-made meals

Skills that boost independence and confidence

Family or social bonding around shared meals

Routine and structure that can support mental wellbeing

Therapeutic benefits**:

Cooking can provide a calming, focused activity that reduces stress

Creates a sense of achievement and purpose
Opportunity to practice mindfulness and problem-solving in a practical setting

Positive social connection, reducing isolation and boosting mood

See you on Thursday 🙂

Ps it's definitely 5pm start for the cooking class not 5.30pm as it states on the poster.

Tonight, we treated our lads to a Christmas three-course meal. These aren’t just friends — they’re a brotherhood. They’ve got each other’s backs and we’re all there for one another. I’m so proud of every single one of them.

Huge thank you to the Thatch and Thistle for the incredible food and excellent service, you helped make the night really special.

We’re taking a couple of weeks off for Christmas and will be back on Thursday 15 January.

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎉🎄
