🌟 Weekly Round-Up at Home Instead Central Hampshire 🌟

This week has been full of community connections, fresh air, and a few tasty treats! πŸ’™

πŸ“Έ 1–3. Out and About in the Community
Ally (our Registered Care Manager), Melissa (our General Manager) and Danielle (our Recruiter) spent time out in the community delivering leaflets, chatting with local residents, and raising awareness of the support we offer. We love getting out locally - it helps us stay connected and ensures people know we’re here when they need us.

πŸ“Έ 4–7. A Sensory Walk & Something Sweet
One of our carers took a client for a beautiful walk through the Sunken Garden at Hursley Park, the colours, sounds and peaceful surroundings made it a wonderful sensory experience. Afterwards, they enjoyed a delicious strawberry cheesecake and an Americano with Mrs I.

Being able to take clients out and about safely is such an important part of what we do, whether it’s a gentle walk, a chat over coffee, or simply enjoying nature together. These moments of connection mean so much. πŸŒΏπŸ°β˜•

Another week filled with meaningful moments, community spirit and great company. πŸ’™

✨ A little reminder that our Be a Santa to a Senior campaign is still going strong! 🎁

We’re teaming up with the wonderful Chat-Tea CafΓ© at Badger Farm Community Centre to bring festive cheer to seniors in our community - and we’d love your help to make it extra special. πŸ’œ

You can support the campaign by choosing a gift from our Amazon Wishlist: www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/1BK9IUTNPR0BR?ref_=wl_share

We’ll wrap and deliver all the presents just in time for their Christmas handover on Monday 22nd December. πŸŽ„

Even the smallest gift can make a big difference to someone who might otherwise spend the holidays alone. πŸ’«

Please share this post to help us spread the word, together we can bring a little more joy and kindness to our community this Christmas. ❀️

Armistice Day – We Will Remember Them

Today, we pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of all those who have served - and continue to serve - in our armed forces. On this Armistice Day, we remember the men and women who gave so much to secure the freedoms we enjoy today.

At Home Instead Central Hampshire, many of the clients we support have lived through times of great change and courage, and their stories remind us daily of the strength and resilience of that generation.

Lest we forget. 🌺

🌟 Weekly Round-Up at Home Instead Central Hampshire 🌟

Another wonderful week filled with learning, community, and a few well-earned treats! πŸ’™

πŸ“Έ 1–3. Training in Action
Our Trainer, Stephen, was busy this week working with Danielle and Senem. Ongoing training is such an important part of what we do - all our carers are highly trained to ensure our clients receive the very best support. πŸ‘

πŸ“Έ 4. Teaming Up for a Good Cause
We’re thrilled to be partnering once again with Hillier Garden Centre in Wi******er for our Be a Santa to a Senior campaign this Christmas. πŸŽ…πŸ’« We can’t wait to spread some festive cheer together in the coming weeks!

πŸ“Έ 5. Fireworks and Hot Chocolate
One of our wonderful carers took Mr R out to enjoy the fireworks - they had a fantastic evening and finished it off perfectly with hot chocolates. Moments like these are what person-centred care is all about. πŸŽ†β˜•

πŸ“Έ 6. A Sweet Surprise
The office team were treated to a surprise packet of biscuits this week, a lovely pick-me-up that made us all smile. πŸͺπŸ’™

Another week that perfectly captures what we love most, great people, meaningful care, and strong community connections.

πŸŽ† Fireworks & Dementia: Keeping Loved Ones Calm and Comfortable πŸŽ†

Fireworks can be exciting for many but for people living with dementia, the loud bangs, bright flashes, and unpredictability can be distressing or confusing. πŸ’πŸ’™

Here are a few simple tips to help keep things peaceful this fireworks season:

✨ Prepare in advance: Let your loved one know fireworks may happen and when. Predictability helps reduce anxiety.
πŸ•―οΈ Create a calm space: Close curtains, play soft music, or watch a favourite film to muffle sudden noises.
πŸ‘‚ Offer reassurance: Stay close and speak gently; your presence can help them feel safe.
🐾 Avoid going outside: Watching fireworks live can be overwhelming. A cosy night in is often the best option.
πŸ•°οΈ Stick to routines: Consistency helps with comfort and orientation.

Fireworks can be beautiful but peace of mind is more important. πŸ’™

πŸ“Έ 4–6. Carer Coffee Catch-Up
We had a fantastic time catching up with some of our amazing carers at Costa this week! β˜• Danielle, our Recruiter, and Nicole, our Deputy Care Manager, were there to welcome everyone for a relaxed chat and check-in. It’s always lovely to spend time together outside of visits and celebrate the great work our team does every day. πŸ’¬πŸ’™
πŸ“Έ 7–9. Singing for the Brain 🎢🧑
Our Singing for the Brain groups were full of Halloween fun this week! It was wonderful to see everyone getting into the spirit - plenty of smiles, songs, and spooky touches. A huge well done to Suzie and all the volunteers for creating such joyful moments and happy memories. πŸ‘πŸŽƒ

Another week full of care, connection, and community - exactly what we’re all about! πŸ’™
