Many women are surprised to learn that perimenopause can start up to 10 years before menopause, often in the early to mid-40s.
During this time, hormonal changes can sometimes contribute to:

• Joint stiffness
• Neck and shoulder tension
• Back pain
• Muscle aches
• Poor sleep and fatigue

As osteopaths, we often see women who come in with aches and pains without realising that hormonal changes may be part of the bigger picture.
Sometimes simply understanding why your body feels different can be very reassuring.

If you’re experiencing new aches, stiffness or persistent pain, we’re here to help.

Many women expect hot flushes and irregular periods when they hear the word menopause. What often comes as a surprise is that aches, pains and joint problems can also increase during this stage of life.
As osteopaths, we regularly see women in their 40s and 50s who come to clinic with back pain, neck pain, shoulder tension or joint stiffness, without realising that perimenopause may be playing a role.
Understanding what is happening in your body can make a big difference to how you manage these symptoms and protect your long-term health.

Happiness comes in the small things we do regularly

For me,
🐾 Getting outside for a dog walk
👭 Spending proper time with friends
📖 Reading a chapter of a book each day

Recently, I decided I needed to be doing something creative so I’ve started learning to crochet! I’m trying to practise a little each day.

What are your daily or weekly habits that bring you happiness?

Can you write down three things that make you happy?

When scheduling in your 'Happiness Habits'

If you often feel like you don’t have enough hours in your day to get things done that truly matter to you, it might help to schedule specific things into your day.

For example:
👉🏾For 10 minutes after work, between 5 and 5:10, I will dedicate some non-negotiable time to journalling
👉🏾Every Monday morning, I will dance in the kitchen for 5 minutes to start off the week with high energy!

Maybe simply scheduling your time could be the key to feeling more purpose and meaning in your daily life. Remember, this isn’t about perfection; a little more intentional scheduling each day will start to make a big difference.

Let me know if you give this strategy a try, I’d love to know if it helps you!

If you’ve been pleased with your treatment and the care you’ve received, we’d be so grateful if you would tell your friends and family about your experience.

Many people live with aches, stiffness, headaches or persistent pain without realising how much better they could feel with the right support. Personal recommendations really do help others feel confident about taking that first step.

If you have a moment, leaving a review or sharing our page or website with someone who you think may benefit makes a real difference. Your support helps our small clinic continue to grow and care for more people in the community.

Thank you — it truly is appreciated.
