Resident Alan recently marked his 100th birthday surrounded by friends, family, and the Kingfishers team. Highlights of the day included a live performance of one of Alan’s favourite pieces, O mio babbino caro, sung beautifully by Companionship Team member Beverly.

Colten Care co-founder John Colwell joined the celebration to offer his congratulations, and Alan himself shared heartfelt thanks to everyone at Kingfishers, reflecting on the warmth and care of the ‘Kingfishers family.’

We were delighted to receive a very special delivery this week, thanks to the talented team at Men's Shed New Milton.

The team worked closely with us to create a stunning Display Cart. It was made using recycled materials and residents played an active role in designing the cart. The Men’s Shed team went above and beyond, surprising us with a beautiful pyrography of a kingfisher thoughtfully added to the cart.

We are excited to put the cart to good use in our upcoming activities and are incredibly grateful to New Milton’s Men’s Shed for helping us create such a unique and meaningful piece.

Norma, Sue, and Susan recently enjoyed a wonderful visit to the historic Beaulieu Abbey.

We took in the scenic gardens surrounding the Abbey, admiring the beautiful flowers and soaking up the sunshine. The group then made their way to the Palace House, where they were captivated by the artwork.

A charming highlight of the day came when a ladybird gently landed on Norma’s knee — much to her delight!

Sue shared her gratitude, saying, “I had such a wonderful first minibus trip — you chose a great day for it too!”

Our residents recently gathered in the main lounge for a lively evening of dancing, singing, and laughter at our karaoke evening 🎤

Residents explored their creative sides by experimenting with musical instruments and singing and dancing along to favourite tunes, each song chosen at random from a box of surprises — adding a touch of excitement to every performance.

Every resident embraced the moment with enthusiasm. The evening ended on a relaxing note with a light cool-down exercise, leaving everyone refreshed.

Our incredible Customer Support Advisor, Tracy, was the recipient of this year's Values Award at the Colten Care Champions.

We are so grateful to Tracy for her dedication to her role, supporting residents from the very first moment they start their care journey and continuing to be a cornerstone of the Kingfishers community.

Judges said: "Tracy lives and breathes our values every day, playing a massive part in her home team. She connects with the community, always sharing her warmth and positivity. Known for her constant smile, she brings joy to colleagues, residents, families, and visitors alike."

We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate Tracy and the incredible difference she makes every single day!

When Companion Elaine noticed some beautiful artwork and a spinning wheel in Daphne’s room, a simple conversation revealed Daphne’s lifelong passion for this wonderful craft.

Daphne, a former art and textiles teacher with a wealth of knowledge, hesitantly agreed to give a talk and demonstration for the other residents. We gathered an impressive array of her materials and creations to display in the activity room, and the event quickly drew a curious and enthusiastic crowd.

Although Daphne admitted to feeling nervous beforehand, she later shared that she thoroughly enjoyed the experience — and so did everyone who attended!
