Revive Reflexology

Revive Reflexology Supporting you to improve health and wellbeing naturally.

Hi Sarah here, I gained my Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology from the Anahata College of Reflexology and I'm a full member of the Association of Reflexologists (MAR). In 2017 I spent an inspiring month volunteering in Ubud (Bali) supporting children with a range of physical and learning disabilities. I came away with a renewed sense of purpose and strong motivation to seek out opportunities in which to help/support others, in times of need or ill health. After turning to complementary therapies myself in the past and developing a keen interest in health and wellbeing, reflexology was a natural next step for me.

A truly enjoyable, inspiring and medically informative book. Written as simply as possible using his own illness and real-life case studies from many years in a GP surgery. It demonstrates how symptoms many of us can relate to can be dramatically improved... 'I feel tired/ill all the time, I can't seem to concentrate, I'm struggling with aches and pains...'

It's not a replacement for seeing your GP, however, provides a toolkit for you to:
1. review your health and identify red flags - The Health Loop analyses Genetics, Diet, Sleep, Exercise, Infections, Stress, Sunlight & Environment
2. write your own Lifestyle Prescription - tackling red flags
3. implement healthy change(s) - provides behavioural theory and a framework making long term change likely

Memorable section for me that reflects the opportunity we now have to improve our own health and wellbeing or delay onset of certain conditions...

'You just don't wake up one day with a condition like IBS, Chronic Lung Disease, Arthritis, MS, Depression, Alzheimer's or type 2 Diabetes. It takes months, sometimes years, of increasing dysfunction in the body's biological systems for these conditions to manifest'.

Any clients wishing to borrow the book, just let me know.

Looking forward to the beautiful warm days ahead and maybe a treatment or two outside in the garden🥰

I think for me it's initially about understanding how our own bodies indicate to us that we are going through a period of stress as symptoms are pretty wide ranging - headaches, pain, nausea, indigestion, dizziness, repeatedly going over the same things in your head, amongst many more....

If left ignored or you find yourself in a constant state of stress the chemicals activated by the hormones during the 'fight or flight' response can remain in the body and 'over time be damaging to your health'.

Once aware we can look to identify the cause and review/make changes to our lifestyle.

Often thought about the many reasons as to why I love gardening so much and this might just be one of them...Mother Nature at its best xx

Scientists have discovered that the mycobacterium found in soil can improve brain functions while boosting moods. The mycobacterium vaccae found in the soil increases serotonin produced in the brain. By getting your hands dirty, you're also making your brain happy.

🌱Does leave you feeling and ?

🌱Do you sometimes have an urge to grab a fist full of soil? Does watering plants give you great, unexplainable ? Your brain might be telling you something. Gardening is actually an effective way of improving your physical and psychological well-being. With all the digging, lifting, pruning, weeding, watering, harvesting, planting, raking, transplanting, and moving, it's clear how gardening can have many physical benefits. But research shows that these benefits can also extend to our minds as well.

🌱 In Japan, there's a trend called “forest bathing” where people immerse themselves in the outdoors as a way to refresh, unwind, and boost concentration. Studies have shown that forest bathing forces people to disconnect from distractions and be more mindful of their immediate surroundings. This can also happen while gardening. If you've ever weeded a garden bed, you'll know that it requires a high degree of focus in order to identify unwanted plants. By noticing the smallest details, you're also improving your concentration.

🌱 Another important aspect of gardening is getting your hands dirty and research shows that this can improve your mental wellbeing. Scientists have discovered that the found in soil can improve brain functions while boosting moods. The mycobacterium vaccae found in the soil increases serotonin produced in the brain. By getting your hands dirty, you're also making your happy.

🌱 There's also the sentimental attachment to your garden. Gardening takes effort and because of this, a natural responsibility for the survival of your plants starts to take bloom within you. Sometimes you see them from seed to blossoming shrub. Other times there may be a plant that takes extra tending to. Caring for something other than yourself can be gratifying and purposeful. And as a bonus, the hard work will provide you with tasty little vegetables (who doesn't love free food?).

🌱 So what if you don't have a backyard? This is a tough challenge for many people. If you live in the northern hemisphere, your first step is to find south. If you live in the southern hemisphere, you should find north. These directions provide the most sunlight. Once you've found your ideal spot, look for areas to put planters. Balconies are excellent places for container gardening.

🌱 Gardening is a perfect family activity. Working together in your garden with your children is togetherness time. You build bonds with children and create memories from your experiences in the garden. While your children are learning a lifelong love of growing things, you are learning more about your children—how they think, what they like and dislike and how capable they really are. Your plants can create a beautiful environment, whether they are in a garden, a raised bed or a pot, and you and your children will enjoy every stage of the process.

🌱 Another key role that family gardening plays is that you'll teach your children skills that can be passed from one generation to the next. When you make gardening a tradition, it will carry on through many more generations to follow.

Adopting 7 Lifestyle habits in middle age will significantly slash the risk of Dementia later in life...

Being Active, Healthy Diet, Non-smoker, Blood Pressure and Cholesterol maintained at normal levels, Lower Blood Sugar levels and Healthy Weight.

Dr Pamela Rist (Assistant Professor Harvard Medical School) led research that tracked 14k women aged 50 or over during two decades and confirmed that 'individually, each factor reduced the risk by around 6%'.

By 'lowering stress and inflammation levels they help to avoid a dangerous build-up of toxic chemicals in the brain'.

The research suggested that 'even taking up exercise in your 60's is better than doing nothing at all for improving cognitive function'.

So while risk factors like age and genetics are outside our control (with women being disproportionately affected) its good to hear that we can play an important role in reducing this risk.
