Wise words and exactly how aromatherapy should be treated.
Yes they’re wonderful God -given blessings that can work wonders. But need to be treated with respect and not used randomly without consideration

I know I posted a warning a couple days ago about watching out for contraindications when using natural products, but it is such timely advice, especially during the cold and flu season. Herbalism is finally becoming more popular as we turn away from the recent events in history that have caused us to no longer blindly trust what big pharma and underlying political agendas have pushed. This is a great thing. But, be wise in where you are seeking knowledge about herbal remedies, because so many have jumped on the bandwagon without truly doing their own research and you need to be careful in whom you trust when seeking advice for your health.
So, here is another little heart to heart from your local nerdy herbalist, who truly believes in the healing power of nature. God equipped us with everything we need to help heal our bodies naturally, but we need to be wise in what and how we use herbal remedies.
I truly love helping people with herbal heath and wellness tips. But here’s the catch: I often have people approach me or reach out with questions such as, “What herbal remedy should I take for this condition?” without letting me know any background information such as: What does your sleep habit look like, what is your diet, what medications are you currently taking and all those other super important pieces of the puzzle… I would never consider just handing you an herb and saying, “Here, try this!” All those things mentioned above are so very important to factor into the equation. If a person is not asking those questions, please be wary.
Every person is different. Everyone’s journey is different. And, our daily habits impact how well herbs work in our bodies. I would caution that if someone is tossing herbs at you without asking deeper questions, you probably shouldn’t fully put your trust in their advice. I have often had to tell a client that I cannot sell them a particular product, until they clear it with their doctor. Why? Because, their responses to those important questions listed above lets me know of possible contraindications and without their doctor’s approval, I cannot in good conscience put their health in jeopardy. That is the very opposite of my entire reasoning for doing what I do.
There is so much information floating around social media from people who don’t really know what they’re talking about. They might see a social influencer post something and they regurgitate the information without even researching the efficacy of what is being touted. I will be one of the first to say, “I dont know. Or, I’m not sure about that. Let me research that information, first,” because I know that it is so dangerous to just accept whatever is being offered. Many trust AI and Google answers and don’t comprehend that those formats are literally regurgitating information others have fed into their databases and it has become part of the algorithm from popularity, not necessarily scientific, factual information. So stay vigilant, stay safe, do your own research as well and listen to your body.
Some herbs are incredibly supportive but can interact with medications, conditions, or autoimmune issues. Here are just a few examples:
• St Johns Wort — amazing for mood support but highly interactive with antidepressants, birth control, seizure meds, blood thinners, pain meds, and more.
• Licorice Root — fantastic for adrenal and gut support but can raise blood pressure, lower potassium levels, and interact with heart and BP medications.
• Kava — powerful for calming the nervous system but not safe for everyone and can interact with liver affecting medications.
• Elderberry — great immune support for many people, but because it stimulates cytokine activity, it may aggravate certain autoimmune conditions or flare ups.
• Echinacea — another immune system supporting herb, but it also stimulates immune activity and can be too activating for some autoimmune folks, or those in an autoimmune flare.
Holistic healing isn’t just one size fits all. It is thoughtful, personal and rooted in recognizing that physical, mental, emotional, social, and even spiritual health are interconnected, creating a holistic view where actions in one area (like stress at work) impact others (sleep, mood, body), and improving one (like taking walk breaks) boosts all, leading to better quality of life, resilience and fulfillment beyond just the absence of illness.
My main focus and goal is to support you, not just throw herbs at symptoms and hope for the best. Isn’t that the very complaint we have with modern western medicine already? Thank you to everyone who has allowed me to be even a small part of your own journey towards better health and wellness. It is my honor. Stay curious , stay grounded and rooted and most of all, stay safe and healthy!
