Winchcombe Place in Newbury is a modern, purpose-built care home offering high-quality residential care and respite care for older people, including those who are living with dementia. Each en-suite bedroom has its own flatscreen TV, phone and internet connections, and ground floor rooms even open directly onto the lovely, secure gardens. Residents love the hair and beauty salon, café, cinema room and library. There are also regular activities in the vintage-themed lounge and activity room. At Winchcombe Place, the team believes that living in a care home should be just as good as living in your own home – or better. What a wonderful day we’ve had at Winchcombe Place!

Christmas Jumper Day brought so much joy to the home. We were joined by the children from Winchcombe School choir, who sang beautifully.

The ladies from carehome.co.uk spent the afternoon with us for games and arts and crafts and delivered some fantastic raffle prizes ( Thank you so much)

And of course, no festive day is complete without a little dog dressed a reindeer popping in to say hello.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today so special.

Milena and Bridget – thank you for being endlessly kind, caring and for always going that extra mile. It never goes unnoticed, and it makes such a difference to the residents and to all of us who work alongside you.

Stepping Into Christmas at Winchcombe Place

This week we had the absolute joy of welcoming the children from Winchcombe School into the home for our Step Into Christmas event and what a brilliant afternoon it was.

Together we made Christmas cards and paper chains, enjoyed mince pies and shortbread, and filled the home with Christmas songs and so much laughter. The children were wonderful , polite, enthusiastic, kind, and a real credit to their school.

A huge thank you to every one of them (and their teachers) for joining us. You’ve certainly started our Christmas season off in the best possible way, and residents haven’t stopped smiling since.

Here’s to a December full of moments just like this.

This month, we had the pleasure of recognising three exceptional members of Winchcombe Place, Kevin, Nik and Evie, all nominated by relatives and colleagues for the difference they make every single day.

Our GEM Awards (‘Going the Extra Mile’) are special because they come from the people who see the difference up close , families who trust us with their loved ones and teammates who witness the quiet moments of kindness, patience and care that often go unseen.

Kevin, Nik and Evie embody everything our Care UK homes stand for.
They consistently go above and beyond, not for recognition, but because it’s simply who they are.

We are incredibly proud of them, and deeply grateful.

Today we’re celebrating the incredible men who make our home what it is , from our residents with their rich stories, humour and resilience, to the dedicated men in our team who show up every single day with kindness, patience and pride in the work they do.

We’re lucky to have such wonderful gentlemen living and working here at Winchcombe, and today is the perfect moment to recognise them.
