A proud moment at the House of Lords!

We were incredibly proud to see Sharon Coxon, one of our Registered Managers, visit the House of Lords recently following her award‑winning work.

Sharon was invited after winning the Supporting Older People with a Learning Disability Award at last year’s National Learning Disability & Autism Awards - a fantastic achievement that recognises the difference she makes every day.

Sharon was accompanied by Claire Skelton, Director of Care and Support Service Development, to celebrate this special moment. Sharon’s dedication, compassion and focus on the people she supports truly shine through, and this recognition is so well deserved.

🌼 Springwood Residents Rally for Severn Hospice 🌼

The amazing community at Springwood in Shifnal has spent the past year coming together to raise funds in memory of a much‑loved neighbour and their hard work has really paid off!

From afternoon teas and raffles to handmade crafts and their biggest ball yet, residents have worked hard throughout the year to raise an impressive £1,500 for Severn Hospice. They took on everything themselves - from preparing the food to making the decorations and organising the event.

Resident Rosaline said:

“We wanted to do something really special in her memory… everyone pulled together. It just shows what a special community we’ve got here at Springwood.”

Severn Hospice’s Phil Haigh recently visited Springwood to receive the cheque and thanked residents for their kindness and generosity, which helps support thousands of families each year.

🎉 Success at the WAGS Awards 🎉

We’re delighted share that Housing and Care Manager Sue East has been recognised as a winner at this year’s Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards (WAGS), receiving the Rising Star Award! 🌟

Although Sue joined us only six months ago, she’s already made a remarkable impact. With empathy, clarity, and purpose, she has inspired her team to deliver outstanding care and shown the leadership qualities that mark her out as one to watch in the sector.

We’re also proud to celebrate all of our colleagues who reached the finals at the WAGS Awards. Each nomination is a testament to the strength, dedication, and passion across our care teams and it’s wonderful to see that recognised nationally.

🚂All aboard🚂

Support Worker Louise and residents stepped onto the American-built steam locomotive departing from Churnet Valley Railway and began their journey with smiles and delight!

"They enjoyed the interactive, panto-style live entertainment, singing and dancing chefs, The Polar Express story as told by the characters, and rich and creamy hot chocolates with a crispy, crunchy Christmas cookie" says Sarah, Choices Support Worker.

Wartime stories and handmade tributes at Withywood 🎖

This Remembrance Day, tenants at Withywood, a ShireLiving extra care scheme in Shrewsbury, have shared powerful family memories and personal artefacts, from medals and photographs to a lipstick fused to a penny salvaged from the Liverpool bombings.

Alongside these stories, the Knit and Natter group have been crafting poppies and knitted dolls representing service men and women. Their work is now on display in the scheme, with a poppy-themed postbox topper outside for the wider community.

👻Spooky scenes from our schemes and Telford office👻

Staff and residents have all pulled together to make this Halloween a memorable one.

Parties at Choices and ShireLiving schemes tonight will host competitions for best costume, a fangtastic menu, with Oakwood in Wellington being visited by a "haunted doll" contortionist!

Claire Skelton, Director of Care and Support said: "shoutout from me and Jacob for our catering teams, who's efforts provided a frightfully fun Friday!"

"Their spooky treats and tombola have raised £212.60 for Severn Hospice!"

🌟 Congratulations Claire! 🌟

We’re thrilled to celebrate Claire, our Registered Manager, who has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Social Care Leadership Awards – recognising over 30 years of dedicated service and the incredible impact she’s had on both colleagues and residents.

Huge congratulations also to Andrea, our Regional Manager, who was highly commended in the same category – a reflection of her inspirational leadership and the respect she’s earned across the sector.

Claire and Andrea are part of our dedicated care teams supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs. We’re very proud of them, and of all our brilliant colleagues who were shortlisted at this year’s awards.

Last weekend, our residents from Tunstall enjoyed a brilliant day out to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Llangollen Railway 🚂🚂. Cream tea, scenic walks, and a bit of trainspotting made for a perfect mix of nostalgia and fresh air
