🎬 Newcastle College student, Ruby Dutton, has been awarded a top prize at the 12th Moving Image Awards, held at the British Film Institute in London. She won ‘Best Animation Short Film’ for her thought-provoking project, Little Old Me.

We’re back baby… and we’re moving dates! 🙌

You told us you wanted EVEN MORE chances to soak up the music in our brilliant local venues, so we listened and Newcastle Jazz & Blues Festival is heading to August Bank Holiday weekend 🎶🎶

From Friday 28th to Monday 31st August we’ll be filling the town with live music across venues all over Castle and Hartshill!

What a blast we had last week working alongside some VERY talented young students!🙌🏻

We conna wait to see how their work is used in the upcoming Newcastle Under Light projections. Don't miss it on the 4th March 📍 The Guildhall.

As part of 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, a collaborative project with Appetite , Newcastle-under-Lyme BID and Leo & Hyde our Art & Design students took part in a creative workshop led by the company’s artists🎨

Students from the BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art & Design Practice and BTEC Level 3 Art & Design courses worked collaboratively to develop concepts around the theme '𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲-𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿-𝗟𝘆𝗺𝗲'. Exploring local memories and stories, they created narrative ideas through both digital and hands-on workshops while gaining valuable insight into projection mapping techniques.

Work produced during the sessions will form part of the final projection at the Guildhall for the Newcastle Under Light event on Wednesday 4th March in Newcastle-under-Lyme📍✨

A nod to the past, built for what’s next. Named after Newcastle-under-Lyme’s own Philip Astley, the OG showman and founder of the modern circus (born here in 1742), this is a proper reinvention of the town’s tired 60s shopping centre.

We’re keeping the concrete bones and dialing up the industrial edge, reworking it into 42 character-packed apartments circling a lush green pocket park 🌿

PLUS 11,000 sq ft lined up for indies, bars, cafés and a brand new music venue, bringing the buzz back to the high street.
