Attachment is one of the most fundamental foundations for a child’s healthy growth. Through infant massage, parents have the opportunity to strengthen this deep connection, built on eye contact, touch, and mutual listening. Massage becomes a special moment in which the child feels safe, loved, and protected, while the parent learns to read their little one’s cues and needs.
Across cultures, touch represents a universal language: it requires no translation and speaks directly to the heart. The IAIM program, present in over 100 countries, emphasizes this intercultural experience, highlighting how infant massage serves as a bridge connecting generations, communities, and families.
Fostering attachment means giving children a secure base from which to explore the world. With massage, this base is nurtured daily, through the warmth of hands that care for and accompany the child.

Someone enjoyed the baby massage today.
Lots of chat with the Mums around sleep, feeding and crying.
I’m planning another 5 week course in November. There are babies on the provisional list already. Message me if you would like more information or to reserve a space.
Each week we build the massage one body part at a time until the full body massage at week 5.
We accept babies from birth to a year old. And we welcome all babies regardless of their mood even crying, feeding or sleeping.

Whether you’re a first-time mama or adding to your crew, yoga is a gentle way to stay grounded, strong, and supported throughout your journey. 🧡

First day of the 5 week IAIM baby massage course today at Marley Hill. I was joined by 9 babies, 8 Mums, a Dad and a Gran. Lovely to see the interaction between parents and babies. Lots of chat, support and shared tips between each other. A great morning. Thank you to all that attended.

You can begin massaging your baby from birth! In IAIM classes, we welcome babies of all ages, and we support parents in adapting strokes and rhythms to suit their baby’s needs.

For newborns, massage is introduced gradually, respecting their sensory threshold and natural adjustment to life outside the womb. Even gentle touch and eye contact are part of early communication. Over time, massage becomes a beautiful routine that supports development, bonding, and relaxation.

Starting early helps parents feel more confident in responding to their baby's cues and emotions. However, if your baby is already a few months old—or even crawling—it’s never too late! IAIM instructors are trained to guide families at every stage.

What matters most is not when you start, but how present and connected you are.

We have welcomed a number of babies at JJYoga with a little birthing boom, so there are a few spaces available in the group.
We meet Tuesdays at 7:30 pm for an hour at Marley Hill community centre.
If you are 12 weeks pregnant and would like to join a supportive group and practice some gentle pregnancy focused yoga, breath work to help with labour and during the ante natal period and deep relaxation then come an join us.
The sessions are led by Jane a retired midwife.
