On this day in 1934 Newcastle Crematorium officially opened.
For the last 91 years they have been at the heart of our community when saying goodbye to our loved ones.

John Bardgett & Sons have also proudly served this community since 1914 and have worked alongside the crematorium since its opening all those years ago.

Dr Margaret Appleby of Gosforth passed away peacefully in the Marie Curie Hospice on 13th September after a long illness, aged 83 years.

Beloved wife of Richard and a much loved mother, granny and sister, Margaret will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

Following a private cremation, all welcome for a celebration of her life at All Saints Church, Gosforth on Friday 10th October at 1.30pm.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to Marie Curie Cancer Care. At the family's request bright colours to be worn.

Sue, a beloved Mam of Andrew, loving Mother-in-law of Julie, cherished Nana of Nicholas, Liam, Jessica and Courtney, Great-Nana of Kieran, Hallie-Mae, Willow, Ellie, Freya and Nick, devoted Sister of Phillip, Gail, Stewart, Jill and Heath, Auntie of Laura and friend to many.

Please meet for a celebration of Sue's life at Saltwell Crematorium on Wednesday 10th September 2025 at 3:15pm. Floral tributes welcome or donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Cancer Research UK via a collection at the Crematorium.

Bernadette Fitzpatrick of Dunston died peacefully on 15th August, aged 87 years.

She was the beloved Wife of the late Patrick, a loving Partner of Richard, dearly loved Mam of Mary, Ann, Val, Ken and David, and Mother-in-law of Billy and Terry. Bernadette was also a treasured Nana and Great-Grandma, and she will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral Service to be held at Saltwell Crematorium, Gateshead on Thursday 11th September at 2.30pm.
