National Anti-Bullying Week
The Power of Good

This week is a reminder that kindness has power: the power to heal, to include and to change the way someone feels about themselves.

Every day, I see how small acts of goodness such as a smile, a listening ear, a gentle word can make a world of difference to a child who’s struggling.

Bullying can make children feel unseen, unheard or unsafe. But goodness, when shared, restores safety and belonging. It reminds children: You matter. You are not alone. 🧡

Let’s use our power for good this week: in our schools, homes and communities.
Every kind word matters.

Using Split-Brain Knowledge in Sand Tray Practice

I’ve recently been doing some reading about split-brain patients and trying to understand how the split-brain research can actually deepen my ability to notice and work with unconscious processes in sand tray sessions because they both rely heavily on non-verbal expression and right-brain processing.

The fascinating split-brain research shows that the right hemisphere can hold all of our truths and emotions that the verbal self might be trying to deny or avoid.
Similarly, a child might create a violent sand tray scene but describe it as “just playing” the tray may just reveal the emotional reality the words are defending against.
My role isn’t to “interpret” everything immediately, but to observe and hold both levels of communication.

Think of sand tray work as giving a voice to the right brain, while some gentle reflective questions can invite the left brain to join in but only when the client is ready. Over time, this helps build integration between emotional and verbal processing, which is often the goal of trauma-informed work.

You can contact me for a consultation to see if sand tray work is something that you would like to do to help yourself or someone you know.

This afternoon I’m trying something new for me… a sound bath meditation

Apparently, I will be lying on a mat, listening to bowls and vibrations and hopefully adding a little extra serotonin to my days.
I am fully open to the universe gently tuning my nervous system like a harp.

We talk all the time about children needing co-regulation, calm moments and space to process and as adults we need that too.
Sometimes the best thing we can do for the little people we support… is take care of our own emotional system first.

So tonight is about slowing everything down, breathing deeper and letting my brain have a little break.

Wish me luck that I don’t accidentally fall asleep and start snoring in public 🧘‍♀️😂

Here’s to tiny pockets of peace… even in busy weeks. 🧡

Peace ✌️ Love 💛 and… SANDTRAY! ✨

If there’s one thing I’ll happily geek out over it’s Sandtray therapy.

There’s just something amazing about watching someone choose tiny objects… symbols… shapes… and then seeing a whole inner world gently appear in the sand.

It’s powerful.
It’s symbolic.
It’s safe.
It gets underneath all the words.

Honestly, I could talk about Sandtray all day (ask anyone who knows me 🤓)

Every time a tray is created, something shifts.
Healing begins in the smallest grain of sand.

And I LOVE that I get to offer this beautiful work. 🥰

CHILDREN WHO MASK

Some children learn to “mask” their true feelings. They become very good at appearing OK.
They might look confident… compliant… chatty… even “fine”.

But inside they are working really hard to hold everything together and appear as if they are doing fine.

Masking is a survival strategy.
It’s not a sign they are coping.

Often masked children:

• hold it in all day then melt down at home
• avoid showing distress because they don’t feel safe to
• worry about burdening others
• feel misunderstood and unseen
• are exhausted from trying to manage their feelings alone

This can impact self-esteem, sleep, friendships, learning and their ability to connect.

This is where emotional support can change everything

In my sessions, children have a safe, gentle space where they don’t have to be “fine”.

They don’t have to perform. They don’t have to explain.

They can simply show up as they are and be met with curiosity, acceptance and attunement.

This is where emotional healing begins.

This is where they learn it is safe to be themselves.

This is where their inner world becomes heard, not hidden.

Who is a gentle approach best for?

Children who…

• get overwhelmed easily
• worry about getting things “wrong”
• freeze in busy / loud settings
• struggle to express big feelings in words
• shut down when there’s pressure

These children aren’t being “difficult”…

They’re doing the best they can to cope.

A gentle approach allows them to feel emotionally safe and that’s when confidence and connection start to grow.

Whether it’s Managing big emotions…
Drawing & Talking…
Sandtray…
or gentle Primary Tuition…

The aim is the same:
support them softly, so they can open up and shine in their own time.

You can message me privately if you’d like to explore support for your child.

Helping Children Find Their Voice

When a child is struggling with worries, friendships, school or change, it can be hard for them to talk about it.

I offer therapeutic sessions where children from around 5 years old can:
Share their feelings through drawing.
Create stories in the sand tray.
Feel heard, understood and supported.

Every child deserves a space where their voice matters, even if it’s spoken through play or pictures.

Contact me to learn more about sessions for your child.
